Review of chapter "Endings" from LordSchmodder
I very much like your portrayal of Snape and Kettleburn. And you even didn't turn Travers into a total bastard!

Thanks for posting!
Comments from author:
Thank you, I try to keep Snape nasty when he can. Glad you like Kettleburn and my version of Travers.

Okay... I still want to SEE what happens to Lockhart. Honestly, I want to BE the person to mete out justice, but he's a fictional character, so... yeah.

Anyway... those girls are going to need therapy. Poor things.

Nice handling of the twelve year old Slayer, by the way. Very sensible means of dealing with her trauma, and very humane handling of the whole situation.
Comments from author:
I think that once I'm done more people will want to punish Lockhart, yes.

Well Hermione might actually get therapy. Ginny will be lucky to be taken to Madam Pomfrey and given a popsicle, it the Potterverse is to be trusted.

Apparently Travers chooses to be humane when he has the chance.

Review of chapter "Endings" from lunalurker
Overall a very enjoyable story, some interesting twists, and some that were so dark that I hesitated to continue. But I do adore Luna so, and she doesn't seem to be used well very often.
I would also have to echo the very well-spoken reviewer that brought up how disappointingly strange it is that a horribly traumatized and almost murdered 11 year old would need to be punished. Though come to think of it, it would be far from the worst decision that the "adults" of the wizarding world have made. Perhaps Hogwarts needs to have classes in Ethics, Empathy, and Rational Thought, rare as they are in the magic community.
Ah well, the worlds of children's books are strangely cruel far too often. Thank you for writing, i look forward to more. :)
Comments from author:
Thank you. Parts of it were more fun two write than others.

Lets say that Ginny's punishment won't be as bad as people seem to think.

More of this! Luna is the perfect foil the moment she shows up. Its all about story telling without the ego shrilling for attention. That moment when the Slayer was separated from Ellie reminded me of a host rescued from the Werewolf. Was the memory relief spell used in her case? I sped through the reading and may have missed it related in the text. Great read.
Comments from author:
Thank you. More of this will happen. In Ellie's case Snape did Obliviate her, yes, but not in story. Lockhart tried, but the Slayer's innate magic resistance stopped it.

WOW! Professor Kettleburn ROCKS DA HOUSE! I loved it!

And it looks like Quentin isn't the complete asshole that he was in the series.

How does the HP arc connect to the "Waifs and Strays" arc?

I can't wait to see what's next!
Comments from author:
Thanks, I rather like Old Kettleburn myself. It really isn;t difficult to portray Quentin as less of an asshole, he was such a tremendous one. As for the connection, some of them will start turning up soon.

Who was the dark portrait? Which version of Death?
Comments from author:
Heh. Now that, as a wise lady once said, is a tale for another night. The story is over, but not the series, that will continue next week in Luna Lovegood and the Shaggy Dog.

Thanks for reviewing.

Excellent conclusion to the Dark Portrait Chapter of your epic.

I actually found myself cackling and cheering out loud quite often, especially when Fudge was give his slapdown. I like the way you've written Snape too, he's more than willing and ready to do the right thing but that doesn't mean he has to be nice while he does it, a distinction surprisingly few authors manage convincingly.

Well done and thanks for sharing, I look forward to seeing further parts of the series.
Comments from author:
Thank you, I hope you enjoy the conclusion as well.

Fudge deserves every slap down he gets. Cackle away I'd say. Snape often gets portrayed as a complete bastard or far too sweet.

Glad you like my version of him.

Gladly done and thanks for reviewing.

A wonderful story. Creepy, given the AU elements, but I can certainly see where other elements will come in - Snape's potion for Angel, yes?

Ron got to be a hero, if unsuccessful in saving Hermione, I have no doubt that his determination to do so has earned his brothers' respect. He's always had Harry's respect and friendship, so I see nothing changing in particular there except perhaps a greater sense of self-worth on Ron's part, while Hermione will likely remember how determined he was to save her.

Luna and the Spectrespecs - an excellent idea, and definitely something to change the wizarding world, even in little ways.

Quentin Travers as not being a complete bastard is also a refreshing idea and potentially supported by canon. Just because he's the member of the Council we see most of doesn't mean he's in charge after all. And a Slayer who will not or cannot fulfil her task, to someone with the job of helping protect the world, is a danger, in strictly pragmatic and non-sentimental terms.

I look forward to the next story - this entire series is incredible in its complexities and inter-weavings.
Comments from author:
Thanks. It's a possibility. Ron will hopefully feel a bit better about things, yes. And Hermione will remember, yes.

Yes. Change...

At least not in the beginning. I always thought it unlikley the Head of the Council would come to the Cruciamentum himself. As for killing an uncooperative Slayer, not Quentin's favourite job...

Thank you, and thanks for reviewing.

Overall, a good ending to this story.

However, Ginny being punished is just cruel and unjust. She's already been kidnapped, possessed, dragged into a hidden dark dungeon by the shade of a Dark Wizard and a legendary killer reptile, and very nearly ritually sacrificed. And her parents are apparently going to make her...weed the gardens? Pure foolishness and just plain cruel. She's an *eleven year old* and has been a terrible victim here. What exactly are they going to do to her that’s worse than the horrors she’s already been through? Perhaps a stern lecture on being too trusting at some point in the future, but right now what she needs is a heck of a lot of support and comfort, not *blame and condemnation* for having been the victim of an attack. What a message to send to a young child.

If I was her, that would sunder any relationship I had with my parents. Go through a terrible, *horrific* ordeal at that age and your parents' reaction is to say that you're a bad, bad child and you need to be punished for it?! Blaming the victim to be sure. A better finger to point would be in the direction of the faculty, who apparently never noticed a hugely powerful dark artifact in the hands of a first year student *all year long*. Sigh...

That said, this does seem to be a repeating theme in your stories for some odd reason - children are naughty and need to be punished with stern discipline - don't know what's up with that...
Comments from author:
Ginny's 'punishment', such as it is, will be dealt with in the first chapter of next week. I hope it will make you feel better about things. Btw, Ginny did not have the artifact nearly as long as she had in canon, this time round they caught on rather more quickly, hence the need to find a replacement for Lockhart during the year.

I must admit I hadn;t actually looked at it like that, and if you do, I don't know what's up with it either.

Thanks for reviewing.

Hmm so Lockhart is missing some bits and being hunted down like the rabid dog he is...
Luna has figured out a way to make some cash and got plenty of points for Ravenclaw.
Ron gets a new wand after almost paying with his life.
'Moine hopefully gets over this bull that almost happened.
Hagrid is a pardoned almost wizard!!!
And Harry is the same. LOL
Can['t wait for the next in the series!
Comments from author:
Ayup, ayup, ayup, hopefully, ayup, well a bit more sarcastic and introspective...

Review of chapter "Endings" from etienneofthewestwind
Going this route, Hagrid may be a competent teacher by the time he takes over Magical Creatures. He´s a likeable character, but NOT a good teacher in cannon.

It´s nice for Ellie that she doesn´t have to be the Slayer anymore, though even without conscious memories, there may be effects of her ordeal. I wonder if Darius´ blood was the substitute or Snape was talking about something else.

Luna´s letter home was perfectly her.
Comments from author:
I was always amazed at how little actual training Hogwarts teachers got. And indeed, this way Kettleburn can keep an eye on things and instruct Hagrid. Soemthign might stick for Ellie, but if it will be a fear of blonde curls or an instinctive need to kick Lockhart hadrin the bollocks remains to be seen. As to what was the substitute...;-)

Glad you liked the letter, thanks for reviewing.
