Review:
Just read this again. Still love it. I'll read anything that has Xander in it as a main character. Can't wait for more. :-) :-)

Review of chapter "Discoveries" from Geyer
Review:
What a great set-up for a story! It features my two favorite fandoms (BtVS and SG-1), plus a third that I like to read in, despite only having seen one episode, the one you mentioned, where Simon and his son are in Peru. I like your characterizations and voices, with the core canon characters coming across as very engaging. Jessica was both dreadful and believable. I had to snicker at Jon's thoughts about Freya/Anise. Will SG-1 be around for the duration of the story, or are they going to step back and let Jon go off to Cascade? The SG-1 writers wasted an opportunity by not putting Jon into more episodes, so it's good to see you remedying that. I'm looking forward to your next chapter.
Comments from author:
I'm glad you like it so much. I really couldn't resist the temptation when I saw the banner someone (TexasAries, I think, not sure though) did of Jim and Xander with a black panther and hyena. The story pretty much literally jumped out at me instantly.

This will primarily be a Scoobies plus Jon fic once things get ironed out, but SG-1 WILL feature frequently (Checking in on Jon, coming in to help deal with the heavy duty baddies when they show their faces, pounding the Initiative into paste, etc.) as will Jim and Blair, though it will be rare for everyone to be in the same room at the same time ... mostly because that's a LOT of people (a dozen at a minimum, and it goes up from there!), but also because the idea of Willow, Blair, Daniel and Sam collaborating scares the HECK out of me. That's a scarily smart quartet right there ... Willow is probably the 'dumbest' of the lot, which ought to give you a clue of the brainpower the four of them have, considering that Willow is nowhere near being dumb.

Not to mention that I truly fear for the integrity of Sunnydale with Jim, Jack, Jon and Xander all there at the same time ... three of the four are ENTIRELY too fond of blowing things up as a solution to the problem. *snicker*.

They definitely wasted the Jon plot, I agree ... not to mention went in a really, really, REALLY dumb direction with what they did do with it. You wanna tell me that JACK ... who has an insanely low boredom threshhold, and is far, far smarter than he lets on ... wouldn't go insane inside of a couple months going back through HIGH SCHOOL? Yeahsureyoubetcha.

Review:
Okay, I was expecting the SG1 meeting to be a bit rockier but that worked out okay.

Now for the 64billion dollar question, is Jack a potential Sentinel and what happens if he gets triggered? After all he and Jon are basically the same person genetically, right?

That could be...interesting...and...fun.

Lots of potential here, I can hardly wait for the next chapter!

Thanks for a great story!
Comments from author:
Jack *was* a potential Sentinel, and no, he won't get triggered.

The Sentinel gig (at least my explanation for it, since it never really got fully explained in canon) is tricky. It's primarily genetic ... in order to have any possibility of becoming a Sentinel you HAVE to have dominant Sentinel genes, which means you're a guy and you got it from Dad or you're a VERY, extremely rare girl, and got it from both.

On top of that, you have to have a 'triggering event' within a certain amount of time ... if you've not had that first event by the time you reach late teens/full physical maturity (mid twenties at the absolute latest, more usually before age twenty) it's not going to happen at all. The justification for this being that a teenager/kid will have an easier time adapting to the wacky world of Sentinel fun than a grownup. Unfortunately for Jon, the Sentinel gene is only coupled with physical maturity, not mental (since there's NEVER been a case like his under normal circumstances, there'd be no need for the mechanism). Jack just never had the triggering event as a kid, and at fifty, he's WAY too old for it to kick in now.

Review:
First of all, thank you for this fic. It has potential.

Now, frankly this latest chapter doesn't really sit well with me. The reason, team SG-1 pull out too easily and too early. Yeah, Jack may have realized that Jon is in good hands... but really, Jon is too much 'a-person-of-interest' to be let go that easily. Steps have to be taken, peoples to be told, contingency plans made, NID people to be misled, etc... And just taking Blair's word about the sentinel like that? I can't see Capt/Lt Sam Carter accepting it that easily. And Daniel? no questions, interrogations on sentinels, nada...? I can't see it. At the very least, Team SG-1 should have called Janet Fraisier to verify Jon's conditions.

Perhaps it would have been more believable if it was decided for team Sentinel to stay a few days... while facts are checked and verified, Daniel and Blair networked, Jon and Xander further bond, ... etc.

thank you
Comments from author:
Heh. I know it broke off in a bad spot, but trust me, Jack is not just walking off into the sunset. He's backing off so that Sam can go start digging on her computer, and he can call George and go 'ok, weird shit ahoy, boss!' And no, Team Sentinel is not exactly going to be allowed to leave, either. Jack's just saying that so Jim doesn't do something stupid. There WILL be a rematch, within twelve hours or so. Probably with George in tow.

I WILL admit that Sam and Daniel are a bit out of character, but I had to make some sacrifices in this chapter ... I knew a 'fuller explanation' was going to come in a chapter or so, giving them their chance to geek out/question facts, and I also knew that them pushing Jim now would have escalated things, and I *really* didn't want things to get more antagonistic than they already were. Jim being hounded/pressured by people he doesn't trust as far as he can throw them when he's in full-on Overprotective Papa Bear mode is a real fast way for things to get ugly, and if that happened, patching relations would have been iffy at best. So I figured it was better to keep Sam and Daniel fairly quiet this round.

I was happy to see an update to this story. The stand off between the two groups came off perfectly in character. I loved Xander's line "Oh for the love of little baby monkeys, will you two stow the testosterone please." I'm glad you found a way to break the stale mate without anyone getting maimed. I can't wait to see where you take this next.
Comments from author:
*laughs* Hey, Xander was just saying what he, Blair, and Jon were thinking (along with probably all my readers). Breaking the stalemate was tough to do without it seeming extremely stupid, and I'll admit, I probably went a wee bit out of character for somebody there ... but I HAD to, otherwise the lot of them would still be there, in each other's faces, a week later! Jack and Jim both are stubborn as hell.

Yay! An update! Loved the chapter. Loved the fact that Xander was the only one able to keep his brand of weirdness completely off the radar of the new group even more (I hope that made as much sense to you as it did in my head).

Review:
Jack is used to the weird, and they go to different planets all of the time, but you'd think Jack would be more warry about crossing state lines and insist that they stay in Colorado Springs until their background checks check out. Good character moments and action. Thanks for continuing.
Comments from author:
*snicker* Who said Jack was just going to let them walk off uncontested? He didn't know who or what they were really dealing with, and were in an armed standoff. So he's backing off, calling the Mountain, and watching Jon's apartment like a hawk so he can follow them when they leave, whilst Sam does the background check.

Besides, I *had* to find a way to break that up, or theyd've been there all week. *eyeroll*. And that wouldn't have been fun.

Excellent story. I'm eager to read how Xander and Jon handle their change in circumstances and how the people closest to him handle the same.

Now that's a switch I was thinking Xander was the Sentinel and Jon the Guide but this works better, good plot twist!

Review:
"This is so freaky." Xander groused. "I mean, seriously. We're following ghost animals. Anyone ever finds out about this, we're going to be due for a long, long stay in a padded room."

That doesn't sound like a Scoob.
Comments from author:
It certainly doesn't sound like a Season 3 or 4 Xander, I'll grant you.

You just have to remember that this is just barely post-first-season Xander, who, while he's made the decision to fight the good fight, is still getting used to the weird shit that happens in the dark in Sunnydale, nevermind this new Sentinel twist, and hey, his dad's not who he thought it was! And his mom essentially said 'screw you kid, good riddance'. They may not be close, but it's his *mom* ... that's gonna leave a mark. Plus he'd still be grieving for Jessie, especially since he was the one to dust him. Not to mention the fact that not so long ago, he dragged a drowned-and-hal-drained Buffy back to life via CPR.

I've never really liked the fact that the emotional impacts of the Jessie and Buffy things were never really seen, other than Xander and Willow joining Buffy to wipe out vamps, and Xander's hate-on for vamps. So you're going to be seeing a bit more of the emotional and mental fallout of the things that happen in this fic. Killing your best friend, saving the life of another friend, and damn near getting killed yourself is *going* to screw with your head emotionally, and while Xander will never be a wailing, angsty woobie, he's not going to be brushing off/ignoring the personal impact of events that occur.

The comment he made also serves a double purpose. While he's expressing his own reaction to events, he's also commenting on a complete truth. From the eyes of the average person, the whole spirit animal thing IS freaky ... and if they told the average person that they were following spirit animals only they could see, they'd end up in a psych ward faster than you can say 'Scooby'.

Review of chapter "Sentinel, Meet Guide" from BlueEyedJedi
Review:
Kudos on the twist of the Sentenel being ///jon rather than Xander, that is definetely a new one. Ah, next chapterwho is the biggest Alpha Jim or Jack, Xander is too focused on helping Jon to get in that fight, and Teal'c is there to back up his friend.
Comments from author:
I like keeping Xander as close to normal in my fics, and Jack/Jon in SG-1 canon has rather ... odd ... genetics going on, so I had a brilliant reason for him being a Sentinel, and with Jon being a clone that got mucked with, a reason for why Jon's a Sentinel but Jack isn't and never will be. It was way too good an opportunity to pass up.

It's going to be an interesting chapter. Jack has an advantage in that his military training is still active and current, where Jim left the military years ago. Jack also has Teal'c. While Jim will know something VERY screwy is going on with Teal'c (even though he doesn't have Junior anymore, he still has the pouch and all those missing/moved organs, so his body sounds will be very different), he'll have NO idea just how much of a badass Teal'c is.

Unfortunately for Jack, not all the advantages are in his corner. 'cause he's facing off against a Sentinel who's protecting his injured son, who happens to be a Guide, as well as his own Guide (trust me, you do NOT touch Blair if you want to live. *snicker*), and Blair is going to be every bit as hostile, because he's got a distressed Sentinel and his own Sentinel to protect. And while Xander won't be able to do much physically, we all know his mouth can be as dangerous as his fists.

Oh that's going to go over well, Jon finally gets his senses somewhat controlled and they barge in making lots of noise. I can easily see that triggering a relaspe.
Comments from author:
*laughs* No kidding. I really don't envy SG-1, at all. The next chapter is going to be interesting as hell.
