Review of chapter "The Return of the Scoobies" from (Current Donor)Ironbear
Review:
"Not to mention that Angel wasn't really wanting to kill Buffy, so he wasn't pulling the really lethal moves out of his arsenal. Still, given that the bulk of vampires in Sunnydale were newly-risen and on the dumb and incompetent side, Buffy wouldn't have much of anything to worry about."

Heh. It's not the professionals you really have to watch for. They're predictable. It's the lucky amateur having a really good day when you're having a really bad one. ;) 'Cause an amateur will do the damnedest things that a pro would never try, and sometimes even pull it off - and the bad guys can lose a thousand times, but it only takes *one* winning *once*.

I'm really liking this story so far. Good job. I got seriously burned out on SG-1 x-overs a long time ago, mostly because I've seen so many badly written and badly thought out ones. But this one is surprisingly well done, and it's holding my interest really well.

The Sentinel tie in helps. There's not enough well written Sentinel crossovers out there.

Have to say, speaking as a X/C fan and shipper, I'm curious to see how you'll handle "What's My Line" and what you'll do there. I like the fact that you seem to so far be derailing the Bagel ship, but I hope you don't derail the C/X ship as well. They were the best and most "real" couple in BtVS, IMO.
Comments from author:
Very true, especially with humans (about pros versus amateurs). Slightly less so with vampires because the vast majority of the amateurs don't have the brains to try anything more radical than 'punch, kick, bite' ... but still, Buffy could, yes, have an off day and they could get lucky.

It probably helps that this is less SG-1 and more just one character from that show. Yeah, SG-1 was involved very early on, and will pop up from time to time, but it's mostly the Scoobies and Jon dealing with Sentinel stuff, which probably helps with the burnout.

While I won't be derailing the X/C ship, it *will* take longer to take hold than it did in canon - if only for the reason that Xander is going to be very involved in Jon for a while and not looking to hook up with anyone. While being a Sentinel or Guide doesn't nix an outside relationship, they DO put each other first, and Jon is very new to his senses. Jim was dealing with zoneouts and spikes even at the end of the Sentinel show's run, so ... yeah. Gonna be a while.

Review of chapter "Inca Mummy Girl, Part 1" from Letomo
Review:
Actually, wouldn't going to the museum be the one thing Kendra thought Buffy did right? After all, museums are where old things, potentially dangerous things, are kept. Keeping an eye on such would be a good thing. Otherwise, good story, and good chapter.
Comments from author:
Ahhh, but see, it's not a Slayer's responsibility to go after *things*. Slayers are to kill demons. IF Buffy's Watcher had perceived there was something dangerous in the museum that needed to be removed and tasked Buffy with its removal, such should have been done alone, at night, not in the company of twenty or thirty civilian teenagers. *grin*

Interesting chapter very interesting.
Good to see Kendra's perspective, interesting to see how "Ampata" ended up staying in Sunnyd this time.

Good chapter, thanks!

Tom.

Poor deluded Kendra. I really hope the others can break her brainwashing.

Review of chapter "Inca Mummy Girl, Part 1" from RevDorothyL
Review:
Intriguing variations on the Inca Mummy Girl plotline this time, with the mummy taking over a female identity, at least, rather than the name and luggage of the male foreign exchange student Buffy was expecting in the original episode.

Hopefully, Kendra will survive long enough in Sunnydale to learn that the Watchers' way isn't always (or even mostly) the best way to Slay.

Review:
Interesting story so far.

I think you mean Silent Bob deals with intra-court squabbles, rather than inter-court... unless there's another court they're interacting with? Inter means between (usually from one to another. Intercity, interstate, etc.) While Intra means within/inside (intravenous is the first example to come to mind... 'inside the vein' as i understand it. Also 'intranet' For a company or building's internal network (usually just called 'the network', admitedly), contrast 'internet', which connects such to each other.

But yeah, a good read so far. Keep it up!
Comments from author:
Whoops, yeah, that's what I meant. Thanks for catching that. Glad you're enjoying the fic so far.

Review of chapter "Interlude: Sam Zabuto, Kendra, and Spike" from RevDorothyL
Review:
Sam and Kendra may think they're coming to Sunnydale on some kind of 'rescue' mission, to clean up the mess Buffy and Giles and their group have presumably made of the mission, but it seems like they may just get in the way, between Buffy's and Spike's separate efforts to keep things quiet and controlled on the Hellmouth.

Glad to see a new chapter of this, as always! :)

Nice update.

Sam Zabuto and Kendra example everything that is wrong with the current Watchers Council and its massively flawed attitudes. Given she's indoctrinated to the Council's way of doing things from childhood - and probably stolen from whoever her real parents were as the Council are bastard enough to do that if a child is a potential - its no wonder Kendra (and other Slayers like her) don't last more than a year at the most. Because they fight alone and vampires don't fight fair and love ganging up on the Slayer if she becomes more than a nuisance to the local Master Vampire. Unlike Buffy whose so sucessful because she has not just her Watcher but a proper support mechanism in place, a team that has her back and who (in the case of Xander for example) will get on her case when she's an idiot about things.

It will be interesting to see what happens when they meet the Scoobies. Maybe Kendra will get in over her head tangling with Spike and Buffy and co have to save her ass. Then Giles could go to Sam 'this is why I let Buffy have friends to support her, if they hadn't intervened when they did you would be without your Slayer now Mr Zabuto.'.

Comments from author:
The scary and unfortunate part of your idea is that Zabuto, being a properly indoctrinated Watcher, would assume it was Kendra's fault for dying - she didn't listen closely enough/work hard enough and therefore failed. And he would not grieve. Better that she die so a better-trained Slayer has a shot at it.

Review of chapter "New Horizons Approaching" from KazeMidori
Review:
It just struck me that Anya, while appearing to be a teenager, is actually a few millennia old. Granted, though she is that old, she appears to have been stuck with the same basic mindset of a teenager, but, well, Jon wouldn't have to worry about being older then her.... I am so bad. This is not my first time through, that is my only comfort! Or even my second.

Nice story. Like how Jon (aka mini-Jack) is making use of his own training and experience to help Buffy and the Scoobies learn how to do things a bit less "fly by the seat of the pants"; even if Jack had a tendency to do so himself from time to time.
