Review of chapter "an introduction to the new world..." from WorldBringer
Review:
i find it curiously off-putting that you have xander reacting so badly to the initial kill. a) he kills non humans/close to humans frequently, no reason why he shouldn't treat an ork as just another day at work. b) he killed a BadGuy - and no one knew but the whore, plus no one was doing anything against the BadGuy despite him intending to rape their women and enslave their people -why would he be afraid of any repercussions?

also, parkour-style flying leap from a hayloft is not in the xan-mans skillset far as i know. a climb, jump or fall escape seems more appropriate at this stage. You may be D&Ding it, which is fine, but you should still try to write for the characters. even D&D is as much about crafting the story as it is playing the game if you do it right.
Comments from author:
Yes but to this point Xander hasn't really killed anything 'Non-Demon' the Half-Orc Was a Person, and yes nobody knows but the prostitute, but if a young man with a knife suddenly shows up the day after he was killed... like he said the locals can put one plus one togather, how much of the half-orcs power was his and how much was his 'Allies' it's better to NOT get caught at the moment.

as for the hayloft thing, Xander tumbled quite a bit in the show, i based this off the Valentines Day ep when he jumped out of the window...

Interesting. You're not adding in a Favored Soul level or two, are you? What with the arguing and such.

More when you can, please.
Comments from author:
Nah, he takes some levels in Swashbuckler actually, it fits the character growth and the campaign.

ok, but what are the chances of getting some items or powerups that would be 'oh so xander' without really being something that would help in a fight, or something you wouldn't think about being used in a fight..... like stuff that normal adventurers would pass over in favor of other stuff
Comments from author:
it's possible, but it's entirely dependent on what comes up in the campaign, this isn't something i have a lot of control over and the GM doesn't like... well mostly any magic items at lower levels.

really cool Tjin,
kinda surprising you only put Xander as a level 2 rogue, without any multi-classing, with all the vamp and demon battling, the hyena and swim team and Halloween incident I'd have thought there would have been a little something extra to him, little bit of fighter, paladin or cleric due to all the undead and demon slaying, plus holy symbol use...... plus with the magic that doesn't go well for him, wasn't there a couple incidents.
there is a lot of level 1 stuff i could see added just for general diversity.
additionally with all the good clean living and general nutrition I'd say Xander is quite smart and well fed compared to a lot of what would be standard for that world.
maybe that is something that could be played into his stats once he has finished this mission and gotten a couples days rest to heal from his TORTURE and exhaustion at sea piled together with lack of sleep for all that time and probably he didn't get fed either, so hunger too.
yeah, I'd say there is a lot that could be improved...... come morning i can see the prostitute being horrified with Xander's state, thinking that the half-greenskin did him over good, until she finds out Xander one shot killed him, she'll probably think he's a professional assassin and she just wasted a debt on one dude.
poor Xander will be exhausted, plus the Barkeep saw him take a dagger, then greenskin is dead almost as soon as he walks outside, Barkeeps are good at remembering details and faces, news may or may not get around if Xander's 'skills' are needed for other missions around the island.

Any who, I liked this and hope you take into account Xander's thing with undead and demonic women plus his amazing luck into account with your playing
Comments from author:
Thanks for the great review, i considered Paladin as the 'Holy Warrior/White Knight' kinda deal, and the Druid or Ranger for his 'Animal' magnetism, but in the end after watching Xander fight a couple of times and deal with the people around him the Rogue really seemed to fit a bit better than most (Focusing on Bluff, Intimidate, Persuasion.) as well as how people seemed to ignore/overlook him and his multiple sneak attacks in Buffy Cannon i had little choice but to choose rogue.

i went with Lvl 2 because from season one to season three he didn't seem to get all that stronger, so i assumed he didn't get the XP, he was obviously skilled so i added a level so he could survive but in the end he was still little better than the average human (Had i added all the XP he 'Earned' he would be epic level and that would change him considerably)

as for gear, this is a bare bones campaign, he litteraly started off with nothing, yes he is bright (Most rogues are) and that will be played out...

as for the rest... we will see how the game plays out... hopefully he can make it through this without too much trouble but... it is Xander...

This has the potential to be very cool and it's off to a promising start. Though I'm wondering what you mean by playing. Is it in an actual group game or a single player using something like the Mythic GM Emulator?

Anyway, I hope you continue this. It really could be awesome.
Comments from author:
there is an actual group event where i play the character, take notes of what happens and translate them into 'Story'

it's a bit time consuming but it is fun.

Very interesting and good stuff! Really looking forward to more. On looking at things in retrospect I could quite easily see Xander as a Rogue, I mean backstab-ish kills is his forté after all.

No, I meant why didn't Xander steal the Orc's club? He had to have been carrying it with him when Xander stabbed him in the back.
Comments from author:
But again, Xander is in the 'BtVS' mode where they don't loot, at this point he is tired and not thinking straight... (Or to be absolutely honest it was 3am when i was rolling this and forgot the first rule of RPG... LOOT LOOT LOOT!)

I like it. Having you roll on the "encounters" gives it a feel like the old adventure books back in the day. I really look forward to more in the future.
You also forgot Xander's feat in your character breakdown.
Comments from author:
i thought it did, thanks for the review.

Feats are Endurance (He did take a lot of hits) and Dodge (His one saving grace up through season 3 Buff) not the best Rogue build, but it is the best 'Xander' build... his feats will likely lean more towards the more affective combat rogue feats from now on.

Your actually 'playing' for the story? Dicey, pun intended due to a bad roll ending the story before it began, such as the sea dragon being truly hungry/angry! but that aside, I'll admit to being hooked on your stories and really like the modern guy in D&D world, preferably with a buff or benefit so they survive long enough for a story, so Kudos on another eye grabber and look forward to shananigans...and magical items, can't forget magical items :)
Comments from author:
yep, at the moment Magical Items are a bit away, i usually don't like players gearing up with magic until level 5, that way they have the same chance of advancement as the 'Normal' people until they have enough experience to warrant it.

the sea-drake was a toss up, D4 1=Mermaid (Good) 2=Flotsam Ooze (Non-good Neutral) 3=Sea-Drake (Neutral) 4=Ship (Pirates, Traders, Military, Etc) he just got lucky at that one.

That's a good part. I think it's kind of abrupt compared to your other stories. You may want to embellish on the actual happenings of the game. Either way it seems like it's going to be a lot of fun to read. Can't wait for more.
Comments from author:
Embellish? My Beta almost hit me in the head with a hammer when i handed her seven pages... i had to keep it short for her... blame the beta.. BLAME THEM!
i'm glad you enjoyed it.
