Review of chapter "Across the Rainbow Bridge, Part V" from grd
Review:
Epic, awesome, cataclismic, orgasmic, they do not convey enough of how much you wove into this chapter and made them work. I hope the Marvel heroes remember and learn something. They can be so much than mutants, heroes, dealing with a bigotted world, they can become Champions of their Universe. Not just for mutant, human, or themselves. Humbling and incredible. I hope they all learn something. Nice part about Karen finding the answer. I notice the ring too.

Awesome new chapter. I'm understandably concerned that a black ring managed to get through the portal.

Damn, I wonder if the mutants will survive? They aren't in their own universe after all.

Review:
Well then... good with that temporal alphabet soup.
Dealing with 7 or 8 individual time periods and or universes/locations simultaneously, and an even greater number of swapping POVs bogs it down a lot.

Wait... did you actually bring a variant of the original Terra back through the portal?
How many time-lost heroes suddenly find themselves meeting... themselves?

Review:
Well, at least he did one good thing in his life even if it was just a fuck you to Pandora. Question though I know you evac'd Josh but Hellion was with the team as they followed Sinestro but then you don't have him there.

That Black ring is going to cause problems isn't it?

And now the question becomes what now? I mean the refuges get sent back? They stay on 616?

Then there is the severed leadership of the Skrulls, will they strike now or be in disarray until new leadership rises?

So many questions, so little time.

Well either way I salute you for preventing the menagerie of confusion that is the Flashpoint.

That black ring is indeed going to cause problems, and I prevented a menagerie of confusion by... um... creating a menagerie of confusion. But at least I had fun doing it!

Review:
I'm sorry, its a great fic and I love that its still ongoing, but now I'm lost.
Several characters I only have passing knowledge of and so many POV changes have left me kind of befuddled in this arc.
Who did what and when, and did it all amount to squat? Who is dead? Was anyone actually saved?

Was the whole escape portal and Black Lantern incursion just erased? Because everyone is defending the portal and then it suddenly shifts to Flash and company with Pandora giving a "day late dollar short" speech...
Comments from author:
Huh. I may have to do some edits if it was that confusing. The idea was this: The Flash broke history by going back in time and trying to prevent his own mother's murder. This created the alternate timeline that was Flashpoint. Using Brainiac's time travel technology from the bad future where Irma wound up initially (and its ability to shield people and things from the effects of altering history), our heroes evacuated some two and a half million civilians to Earth 616, where they would be insulated against the effects of a paradox that affected their native timeline. Once the last refugees escaped through the portal, the Flash effectively burrowed sideways through time to stop himself from going back in time to save his mother in the first place.

Pandora, the last survivor of the New Gods, planned to use a powerful ritual that wielded the very forces of paradox themselves generated by this event combined with an absolutely stupid amount of prepared magical energy to recreate the universe by merging three existing ones into a whole. She did this because she believed that something was coming that would destroy everything, every world, every universe, and that only the heroes of a world thus combined would be able to stop it from happening.

The result of the Flash's action combined with the battle in Pandora's sanctum are that history in the DC Universe has reset to its original pre-FlashPoint state, the Black Lantern incursion and the entire timeline it took place in never existed. However, there are two and a half million people on Earth 616 whose native world never existed except in their memories whose ontological inertia is sufficient to allow them to continue to exist.

It's like the Doctor says: "People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually — from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint — it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly... timey-wimey... stuff."

...
OK, so maybe I can understand why it would be confusing. I'm just glad it's over, and I can return to my regularly scheduled, non-Crisis Crossover fanfic. And on that note, I swear to God, I am never doing a time travel plot again. -.-

Great chapter! As for a Hero name I thought of "Defender". Why you may ask? Alexander neans Defender of Man. It would be a great homage to both his current life and past.
Just a thought.

Review:
Personally, I think Nightwing has worked pretty well. It has a nice feel with Karen dating a Phoenix. Maybe try doing a scene with Dick passing on the mantle, and see if it work.

I can't think of any names that would work. Pretty much anything that isn't from, or an homage to, Buffy or Superman canon is going to have an annoying OC quality to it that Karen doesn't really deserve. Supergirl could be fun, maybe. There is the final villain from the Earth Angel Supergirl series; the stupidly powerful demon Xenon who's goal was killing all Supergirls in the multiverse. That might be fun just for the possibility of that huge ham showing up for a fight.

Mostly, I think if you can't think of a name that doesn't feel like it works natural into the story don't worry about it.

Just an odd thought I was having; is this story going to pick up a chibi-Batman out of the chaos of the Black Lantern stuff?

Review:
I'd suggest something to do with rebirth. The problem is the only things I can find are the pheonix (already taken) and various deities. This theme would be appropriate since Xander/Karen has been reborn, twice. Once in the body of Power Girl, and a second time by choice in the body of Kara's clone.

Alternatively, since Xander is a joker at heart for much of the early Buffy seasons taking his/her sense of humor into account something to do with the fair folk could work, maybe. Such as Titania, a name which would tie into Xander/Karen's supernatural origins while still sounding like a powerhouse type name. Titania is one name used at times for the Queen of Faerie. She's known to lead the seelie court, which is the 'good' (or at least neutral) fae. By all accounts, rather powerful. And as with most seelie fae, can be rather whimsical. A Midsummer Night's Dream is a good example of her whimsical side.

Not that Titania isn't serious too. According to some legends the wyld hunt is held so that Titania can give a mortal to Hell as tribute to maintain her power. This would tie in nicely with his/her origins on the hellmouth. One could say that Xander Harris was sacrificed to the hellmouth. And then the giving up of a way home could also be considered to tie into the theme. The color scheme for a costume would likely be forest greens and browns.
