Review of chapter "Hypocrisy" from Gideon
Review:
I don't know what Wesley is trying to achieve here but I am sure he is going the wrong way about it :) Good thing he had the vodka handy though wasn't it. If he is cutting himself off from his old friends perhaps he should try to find some new ones?
Comments from author:
He's doing what he did in the show, if you recall. He did tell Gunn that they weren't welcome, though not in the exact phrasing I used.

Review of chapter "Hypocrisy" from AllenPitt
Review:
In a weird kind of way, Wesley is now in the same predicament as Angel--knows he's going to live on and on while everybody he cares about dies (in the series pretty much everybody who joined up with Angel eventually died)... He's depressed, and he has good reason to be.
I'm glad he still helped out, though. Hm. Now in addition to being immortal he can sense other immortals. Any chance of some character already in the series being one? Probably not Lilah as she got hurt by Dru/Darla & took a while to recover (unless she was faking it). Would be ironic if she was, as W. in the series cut off her head to keep her from rising as a vamp. Maybe there was more to that, i.e. another reason?
And they still don't want him around. In the series I liked how he went out and formed his own agency, I wish he'd not just (evidently) dismissed them. Must have been strange doing that. Once Angel vanishes, his group would be 'the' supernatural go-to people, with Gunn/Fred running in circles wondering where Cordelia & Angel were. (and a lot of this wouldn't have gone so bad, I think, if Cordelia had been around at the time. That place always fell apart when she wasn't there.
I'm hoping this mostly stays 'in canon' until after Angel's dredged up from the ocean. I would LOVE to see Wesley back in Sunnydale at some point-the scoobies never saw the new Wesley, the dark competent guy. It'd be hugely surprising to them.
Comments from author:
Well, I can't spoil anything for you, but remember, until an immortal dies their first death violently, they're completely identical in how they heal, etc, to humans.

Thanks for the review!

Review of chapter "Waking Up Dead" from Gideon
Review:
Hmm, Wesley seems a bit depressed. Maybe he needs a woman? As the author, perhaps you could help him with that?
I wonder which immortal he will encounter? Hopefully someone who will train him, more than the training he already has I guess.
Comments from author:
As it says in the summary 'Wesley/Lilah eventually'

I'll let you wonder exactly how it all turns out.

Thanks for the review!

Review of chapter "Waking Up Dead" from Gulanticus
Review:
I give this a 5 for now, just because there are few Wesley centered stories out there. My worry is that there will be no uniqueness to this story. Who will be the one to find him first: Conan or Duncan McCloud?
Comments from author:
I'm pretty sure his name is Connor McCloud, not Conan, and he won't actually be meeting either one, at least at any point in the foreseeable future of this story. Wesley already knows about immortals - as I established. That's how he knew he was one.

Review of chapter "Waking Up Dead" from Midnmax
Review:
Of course, Wesley may just be drunk and depressed and not thinking clearly.

People have beheaded themselves with chainsaws or by hanging themselves with a very thin cable, like a guitar string.
Comments from author:
Something like.

In all honesty, a guiltoine never occured to me. And even if I had, killing him would have defeated the whole point of the fic. Its called suspension of disbelief.

Review:
Huh. I wasn't aware that a guillotine was such a complicated mechanical device. After all, it was invented in the 1780s by the French. Describing it as a Rube Goldberg machine would seem to be rather excessive. Especially when you can buy plans for them off the Internet.

....

Do you just write reviews to be a dick?

Review:
I can buy the shot to the head not being permanent. They once had someone who'd been buried in Egypt at time of Marc Antony revived-- the quickening thing is magic, it can overcome anything that doesn't sever the head, IMO. Actually I never understood that guy who had his throat cut & couldn't sing anymore, he should have healed up (maybe it was psychosomatic?) . Anyway-- wow. Poor Wesley. Will you deviate from the storyline right off, or stick to it at least up to him dredging up Angel from the ocean's bottom? It'd be interesting if it stayed the same all the way until Illyria finds him 'dead'....
Comments from author:
There will be small differances, but they will take time to accumulate to larger change. For the next several chapters, it will be a lot of Wesley introspection, and scenes that happen 'between'/'around'/etc the events that make it into the one-hour show.

Thanks for the review!

Review:
Still in the early stages- and I'm not entirely sure if Immortals could recover from getting SHOT in the head; surely cranial trauma that serious would do the job just as thoroughly as decapitation?-, but there IS some interesting potential here...
Comments from author:
Point, a definate point. I did consider that it did make sense for it to kill him, but I figured since the head was still connected with the body...*shrug* And killing him then would have defeated the point of the story, and it made sense in my mind for him to try shooting himself in the head...

Anyway, thanks for the review!
