Well, it's Ancient only in the sense that Latin is supposed to be some human variant of Ancient. No one will be speaking Ancient in this fic. However, Daniel's fluency with Latin does make the Potterverse spells pretty transparent.

Willow is the red tree, Buffy sister of sunrise, Faith miight be the chosen one, the feline that ran I'm thinking Max from Dark Angel, the leg arm ear one sounds like Jamie Sommers the Bionic Woman. That's all I got so far. The others are mysteries to me right now.

Nice work by Hermione there. I like how they built trust between each other by quoting from popular culture :) They are trusting her that the portal goes where she said it would though, she could have just recreated the one back to her homeworld again. And is she really just going to bring Sam home with her? it would be cruel and unusual to separate Sam, from her team :(

I feel like SUCH an idiot that I couldn't figure out "mistress of the gates." I kept thinking of Sailor Pluto from the Sailor Moon series, which doesn't make nearly as much sense. :) But this is way better, as we got a little Colonel O'Neill time. I can't wait to read the next part.

I liked the quips in this chapter. It was rather quick and to the point, but veterans tend be that in a combat situation. I hope that when when they get to sgc though, that its a bit more than, 'prophesy, come with me', 'ok'. Type of deal.

I'm afraid I can't work out who all six are - but that just makes it more interesting! Nice start there with everyone being somewhat wary of prophecy. That will make good practise when they get to the other people who will not believe it:) I imagine most of them will have friends or family in their home dimension so I look forward to seeing how Hermione will convince them all to come and help out. Most other wizards would probably just zap them unconscious and worry about convincing them when they wake up with no way home :( I am sure Hermione is better than that.
If she asks nicely she may find out that some of the heroines have their own methods of traveling between dimensions and they may be able to get themselves home.

This looks to be interesting. I also think that I know five out of six characters, though I'm really iffy on the fifth. I'll put my money on Stargate, BTVS, Bionic Woman, And the one I'm really iffy about is Dark Angel. That last one, though... A diet is also a body of government, so the character would be one that went from government to being a director of some program, like the fbi, or something. Or I could be WAY off. Stuck until you show it, I guess. And again, very iffy on Dark Angel, but I think it could fit the parameters of the prophesy, if I remember the specifics about the character correctly. Either way, love the riddle! Took me a bit to get the fourth, once I put anime outta my brain. How many shows have cyborgs who have lost such specific body parts, after all?
Well anyway, I'm excited to read more!

While the summary sounded good, when you committed the cardinal sin of following canon and showing the reader Potioned&MiindControlled!Hermione with Ron, I left.

Single Hermione, working her career? Sure; very believable. Rising in rank due to her ability, knowledge and dedication? That's our girl!

Married to a bas**rd that would not, can not, allow her to succeed as she has without tearing her down every chance he gets because of his own truly and honestly inferior - one can even say, total lack of - ability? No.

Just... /no/

Ron in their lives still, /despite/ his constant, near unbroken record of jealousy, betrayals both minor and major, constant belittling of Hermione's beliefs, ambitions, career plans, etc.... The reason I never re read the Potter series after the last idiocy of a book came out was the total destruction of any ability to suspend disbelief so vital to enjoying a book. This is one of three series, and about twelve individual books I can actually say that about.

Be that as it may, I hope you have success in this, no matter my own loathing of such a pairing without the author rewriting the entire series to transformer Ron into something he is not and will /never/ be: a person of worth to himself, his friends, and the world.

I'm a bit stuck on who the last two members were prophesised to be, but the other four seem relatively obvious ('Stargate', 'BtVS' and DC Comics, correct?)

Still, should be interesting to see how this goes...
