Review of chapter "without form and void" from RocksandGlass
Review:
Started to get a lot clearer with this chapter, probably something to do with being from the POV of someone without amnesia.
It's a good start to what promises to be an interesting story, I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this.

Review of chapter "without form and void" from Kalliza
Review:
I love it. This fic came just in time for me to be interested in reading LotR/Buffy crossovers again, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it. I always like it when the realism of Buffy not speaking the language is taken into account, as well as the drastic differences in culture between modern American culture and Middle Earth culture. That's been nicely postponed due to her amnesia. Buffy in Rohan is also another favorite idea of mine, particularly if she ends up butting heads with Theoden about fighting at Helm's Deep. *grins*

Update again soon!

Review of chapter "without form and void" from clockworkorange
Review:
I like that Aragorn is curious about the necklace, but that he doesn't actually know what it is and put the questions he has about it to on hold to focus on the Ring and Gollum.

I think the only people who might correctly identify it are a few of the elves, an Istari or maybe someone who saw it in a book or something (if there are drawings of Simarils).

If Buffy ends up meeting Saruman-influenced!Théoden, will Saruman recognize her necklace? And if so, what would he do to get his hands on it?

Review:
Great chapter, although any chapter is great when it has Aragorn in it... I am very curious as to what it was Buffy was trying to tell Aragorn, so I can't wait until you update again!

Review of chapter "and there was morning" from Mayrose
Review:
I really like that she was named after the Dawn. Wonder what that argument was all about. And I'm trying to remember what all those aliases were of Aragorn, but I'm coming up blank. Oh, well we'll find out soon enough I think.
Comments from author:
:D Thank you! It seemed like the perfect choice to me, so I'm really glad you like it, too. It took me a long time (and many Old English translations) to figure it out!

And yep, you'll find out soon enough! ;)

Thank you for the review!

*rolls up sleeves and gets to work* Then I'll have to try and change that 'confusing' to 'intriguing'. ;)

I love how you have twisted the mythologies together! Also, I love reading about the characters that are less discussed, like Melian and Morgoth :)
Comments from author:
Thank you! It took me awhile to figure it out (probably more than it should've :P), but I was determined to do it. And yeah, Melian's story seemed to jump out at me. I'm glad you liked it, too!

I am very intrigued by this story so far. It's new, you know? At least, to me it is. I haven't seen one quite like it yet, at any rate. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to seeing where you take it.

CT.

PS: Can it be Buffy/Eomer, please please please??? (I know, I'm sure you've got any pairings planned, if there are to be any. But there aren't enough Buffy/Eomer!!!!)
Comments from author:
Thank you!!!! That means a lot, because I'm really trying to do something different. As for the pairing, well, you'll just have to wait and see! But I will say that you're preference has been duly noted. ;)

Review:
This is really great. I adore the Silmarillion to pieces, so I always like seeing it used and loved. Melian is great, and I always felt sorry for her in all that she lost. Great incorporation of the Silmarils and the funky amulet in Buffy. Lol to you saying that the comics aren't canon, I certainly ignore them.

Lots of questions arise in Chapter 3. I am curious, as you didn't specify WHEN Buffy was sent to (though I am assuming it was the Third Age and in Rohan), could it be when Aragorn was there as Thorongil? Could he (with his lovely grey eyes) be who pops up at the end?

Also, I am really curious as to what language Buffy was speaking. Obviously it is English to us, but what is it to those in Middle Earth? I doubt the possible-Aragorn would be so surprised to hear a woman speak Common, even if she does look like the Rohirrim. It could be black speech, since Morgoth managed to transform the Void into a world, but since Melian spoke with Buffy without it bothering her, I don't think so. So I am guessing it is a form of Elvish, either Sindarin or Quenya. It is doubtful that it is Anadûnê. But if it is an Elvish language, it will be intensely interesting to see Buffy and the maybe-Aragorn talk.

You also compared Buffy to Lúthien more than once. Is this coincidental? Or are headed for a Buffy/Aragorn pairing? Considering he is compared to Beren so often. Or will she be more like a sister?

You have me really intrigued, and I can't wait to see where this goes!
Comments from author:
Thank you so much!!!! I was afraid I would lose people with the first chapter, since it is so heavily Silmarillion. But I couldn't resist the opportunity to explore some of the stories there and intertwine that LotR mythos with Buffy's -- and get rid of that silly explanation of the amulet once and for all!

Yep, I was purposefully vague on the time, since Buffy would have no idea from her point of view. The next chapter should help clear that up, though, as it's from someone else's point of view...

As for the language... I went back and forth on this for a really long time and decided that Buffy isn't speaking any language known to Middle Earth (though the idea of her speaking Black Speech is really, really interesting!). While it would obviously make it much easier if she was, it strikes me as more plausible that not every dimension has a language that is Earth-centric, let alone English-centric, especially since Tolkien himself claimed that his books were only a translation.

I'm glad you like it so far, and I hope you continue to do so! (And yes, I completely skipped your Lúthien question, but for a good reason!)

Thank you for such an amazing review!
