After checking out the crime scene, they each need to send info to their respective backups/research people.,,, I wonder if Prof. Walsh had someone she worked with? Based on that scene of the Init heads watching a video of the destruction of the base, I'd guess a lot of their important info/files were preserved offsite. At least Buffy now has gov. funding backing her up. Better than using a major cosmetics company (joke-Spike's comment on waking up in the Init).

I've been reading your Buffy in the military with crossovers series and I have to say that i am enjoying them quite a bit. They work well both as freestanding fics and as part of the overall story. I really wish you would expand the story- showing what it was like for the training for Buffy and how she hid that she was super powered during basic and all that, perhaps show the development of friendships between Buffy and other in the military and how Buffy changes from being extremely anti-authority to accepting the orders from the military. Also, I'd like to see you show how she is truly able to change mind-sets from never killing humans no matter what to be able to mentally do so. (at least in the earlier seasons of Buffy- it was only season 5 when she killed the Knights attacking her and dawn that she started killing humans)
I'd also love to see some side-stories of Faith's transformation to sanity and working with Giles with a few chapters here and there on how Willow and Xander move on in their lives without Buffy, without most dangers and all that.
Comments from author:
These are Buffy stories not Faith stories. If it becomes necessary to go over Faith's transformation, I will. Also basic is boring unless it's directed by Ivan Reitman or Stanley Kubrick.
As for the killing mindset. That's one of the things they try to indoctrinate soldiers with in basic training. Most of the time it works. I will be going into it more in this story actually because of the crossover character's personality.
Yay another military option story, from the title and the 2nd chapter it looks like they are dealing with some type of possessing spirits, I am kinda imagining something like a cross between eyghon and the red mist from john carpenters ghosts of mars. Buffy keeps getting real lucky finding just the right kinda backup for the missions too. I'm looking forward to more hopefully soon.
The driver isn't a secret ninja captain, at least? Boy is he in for a fun ride. Good force mix though. It's weird seeing Buffy deployed in action, with no watcher to do the research. I guess she's all grown up now. So... brain eating zombies? Or, to look on the bright side, maybe a fortune in Spanish doubloons? ("Some Assembly Required")...

Huh. Should be quite a fun assignment. At least the people going on it know what they're doing; Buffy won't have to do it all herself. She'll probably be amazed to be working with seriously competent people.

Review:
Ruh-roh... *anything* Dutch is directly involved in is likely to involve large amounts of things that go *BOOM* and *BANG*, things that will, more than likely, be heading in multiple directions at the same time, usually directed by multiple parties. Buffy had better bring along the high-grade body armor, heavy weaponry, and large amounts of Advil (for the resulting headaches).

It wasn't until the description of the general's Nicaraguan mission that I realized we were talking about Ahnuld. And now what -- Buffy gets to play with Predators in Iraq??
PS: If Arnold's Austrian accent is 'fake', what was that mushing up his mouth for the last seven years in Sacramento?

It only really gets nasty when Aliens are involved along with Predators. Ok, it's bad even with predators. Middle East with its heat'd be perfect for them. Hm, a special forces unit for this. Maybe they'll have suits that defeat infra-red detection? Though from the 2nd P. film, it can switch to UV etc etc when needed... ouch. Those 'distance' energy weapons are the real problem-Buffy can likely win any hand to hand encounter . and hey at least they're not stuck on the 'planet of the Predators'. Any chance of a time-portal bringing Ripley in? i.e. half-human/half-Alien Ripley?
