I hope you keep the Scoobies likeable. Buffy and Willow eventually turned into pretty loathsome characters , in my opinion, but I love the people that they are in the first season especially. One other thing, please keep the focus on the Buffyverse. Xander should be unique and scare the shit out of the forces of darkness.

An excellent start, and well done for avoiding the stereotypical 'Yet Another Halloween Fic' story, where he or someone in the family dresses as an Addams.
Do be careful about some of your throwaway comments, though. In the third sentence, you mention "The Rosenburgs were always away at some dental convention or another this time of year." To begin with, the family name is 'Rosenberg', according to the credits I recall & the IMDB site. Secondly, it seems to be fairly well established that the Rosenbergs were psychologists (possibly child psychologists, I can't recall off the top of my head), not dentists. Possibly you're thinking of another genius female sidekick, Hermione Granger of the Potterverse, whose parents ARE dentists.
Other than a few minor quibbles, this is well written, and I'm looking forward to more. Keep up the good work! :)
