Review of chapter "Xander and the Potty Break" from Oxnate
Review:
I'll be honest. I wasn't a huge fan of the first chapter. Too much exposition crammed into too small a space. (show. don't tell)

But the story is certainly getting better and better. Last two chapters have been very good. Keep up the good work.
Comments from author:
There's a reason they call me Ms. Exposition. :-)

That, and I find that when I write Xander or Willow, they babble. Not as bad as a couple of my own characters (like Aquerna), but a lot.

Great story so far!

I can't wait to see the reactions from Slayer HQ (Is Andrew listening in live at the call center? Have the mini's started a betting pool?). How did Anise get off the base? Will SG-1 come looking for her? What lore does the Council have on the Goa-uld?

Keep up the good work, can't wait for more!

I like the story so far, but I'm a little confused about the base assumption. Why is Xander assuming he will have to kill her? Xander plays kitten poker regularly and has quite a few demon friends at the end of the series, as well as being aware of many non-hostile breeds. So, I can understand wariness, intel gathering, and even threats to keep her from attacking the "poor defenseless humans", but unless she attacks, why would he assume evil?

And given some of her comments, I could see him thinking alien at some point, as she has mentioned other planets, rather than dimensions, and Xander has always been a bit nerdy.

So basically, I really like the story so far, but a little more clarification on the assumptions might help. And given the conversation is being sent back to Slayer HQ, seeing their reaction eventually might be nice.

I also can't wait until SGC hear about the conversation Anise and Xander are having.. Not including all the 'Top Secret' info she is dropping, the fact that her dinner partner thinks the conversation ordinary will have them racing to track Xander down - assuming they have separated, or that Anise even explains what happened while she was wandering the Tau'ri homeworld.
Comments from author:
Well, you'll just have to read some future chapters to have all those things explained, because (as we know) nothing goes simply in Xander's life.

Review:
It's promising so far. At 5K words, it's too soon to really say, though.

I hope you're not going to do a meet-and-greet with both sides spilling all their secrets five minutes after they get together. Gah!

I like how Xander's playing it cool, secret agent style. And I like your choice of Freya/Anise as the character to begin the crossover. It/she is certainly the SG character that's not particularly concerned with keeping a secret from the Earth monkeys.

How quickly will gorgets (throat armor) become standard work attire for the NSWC? Or will the existing gorgets just be modified to protect the back of the neck?

Review:
Great scooby epilogue.

Yep, if Anise is traveling without hand devices, cloaking or related tech Xander can take her out.

Post Season 10? Guess that means if there's any teleporting saves to be done it will be by Earth ships.

So when is Xander going to clue in that she's an alien, not a demon?
Comments from author:
Unless she tells him, why would he ever suspect? The Scoobies have seen tons of weird-looking demons and weird demon devices. And Giles' books state that the astria porta is a demon device that opens into demon dimensions. There's no way a dedicated demon hunter would fall for some lame 'I am an alien form outer space' routine.

Well that was a surprisingly pleasing read, I have only ever read one other Xander/Anise story. I pretty much thought it may have been Teal'c who was the "Demon", then thought it was Vala with the description, I like how you played that. A pleasant story combining a lesser used SG-1 character.

I like the chapter. Xander is only getting himself into more trouble :)

I can't wait till you have her partner speak up (can't remember names). That is going to blow Xander's mind. Also, even with the whole Tok'ra being symbiots and not being the "good guys" in at least Jack's eyes, they will definitely be counted as tolerable at least by the new watchers once they learn the whole story. Wonder if this would cut into the possibility that she will attach herself to Xander?

You know (well, now you will) I just read a story about Xander plying the Goh'auld (hate looking up spelling on story specific items, sorry) specifically Anis, with alcohol so that he could chat with the host more. Even got her to demand from Anis that they get "Death by Chocolate" as a necessary trade item in agreements from Earth :)

This works well as a story even without Xander becoming a love interest. Hope to see more soon. I love the interactions so far and can't WAIT to her Andrew call in Willow and Buffy from the call center saying that Xander was about to be eaten by a new demon. All the while implying that Xander is encouraging the behavior! hehehe Andrew will have to avoid being killed by Xander and Xander will have to start talking quickly trying to defend himself and say it isn't so. :D
