Review of chapter "Not Quite a Daddy" from (Past Donor)KieriToews
Review:
Sweet Baby Jesus!! You had me worried there for a few seconds! I thought I was going to have to say, 'Et tu, Brute?' Thankfully that wasn't the case. Thank you, Jesus! Although, the fact that you were nice to Xander causes me suspicion. You weren't sick or anything, were you?!? Because that's about the *only* time I can see you actually being nice to Xander.

*wanders off, muttering to self* 'What is this world coming to? Being nice to Xander on purpose?!? It just isn't right. My entire belief system is being called into question...'

Maybe somebody slipped a funny powder into my food before I came up with the idea?

I don't think he would be so flippant of it i think there would be greif and regret that he couldn't save her but on the other hand what you are leaving out was that she stabbed faith to save Angel she killed a human however inadvertently to save the vampire I don't think that would sit well with him I think you are kind of down playing how he would react i think first off he would want to think about it by himself for awhile i think it would have made him more introspective and he definitely would not be joking about it i get what your saying about the whole buffy hateing thing its just there response seems kinda shallow .
Comments from author:
Buffy stabbed an enemy to save an ally. An enemy who was responsible for that ally being in trouble in the first place. That's the important part of the equation you left out, not that it was human vs. vampire.

The big thing is that Xander doesn't trust the Mayor and doesn't believe the story of Faith being pregnant. Don't have to get all thoughtful for something you don't believe.

Review:
Not to mention whether Faith would have let the child come to term. At that point in time, she clearly wasn't the motherly type.
Comments from author:
My guess is that if it were true - and I thought I had made it clear that Xander doesn't believe it is - Faith didn't know; the Mayor found out after Faith was in a coma.

Proper response but I'd think he'd be a bit more emotional. The only real way I can see Xander hating Buffy over this was if he was in some sort of relationship with Faith, be it friends with befits or secret lovers or some other version of that crap.

Anyway, probably what would have happened but condensed so I say good job.
Comments from author:
I said this to other reviewers, but I'll say it again: Xander doesn't think Faith really was pregnant. He thinks it's a mind game by the Mayor to cause problems.

But if he was in a secret relationship with Faith - after knowing she was evil - then he's a big flaming hypocrite for getting on Buffy and Angel. He's worse because Buffy didn't try to date Angelus, only Angel...who was an ally.

Review:
Even if Xander were to get angry, wouldn't he be angry at Faith instead? Good one-shot.
Comments from author:
And maybe himself - if he hadn't used protection, that is. And just at fate in general for having the 'mother of his child' turn out to be evil.

Works for me. Or an interesting alternative might be if she died during childbirth while still in a coma, and the baby was called Dawn...
Comments from author:
Whoa, that would be...mind-boggling. But cool.

Review:
Sorry, but I have to disagree. Xander's own examples of fatherhood (Tony/Giles) would drive him to at least try to be a good dad. Even the nightmare scenario shown in the wedding episode had him acting the father to a child that wasn't his. He would probably accept Buffy's unwilling involvement in his child's death eventually, but it would take time and grief. Other than that the story was well written.
Comments from author:
I think that his own childhood would make him scared out of his mind at the thought of becoming a dad when he's barely an adult. Even the years between season 3 and the wedding can be a huge difference in maturity level and what he's willing to try. Plus, who knows how many years in the future that nightmare scenario was. If he was in his 30s, that's practically a different person than his 18 year old self. For one thing, hopefully he has a stable job when he's a dad in the fake future.

I do think that this is a just as much, if not a more, believable response than most other people's stories I've read regarding that possible situation.

Nice work.
Comments from author:
Appreciate that. I know they did it in season 4, but why should they trust something an enemy tells them without any means to verify it?
