Review of chapter "SG-1 and an Agent, part IV" from hamishog
Review:
I think at least one reviewer missed the tone which indicated that Daniel Jackson has either ascended or is presumed dead.
However, I would just like to say that had they pitched this idea as an alternative to BtVS I would have watched it. To me the most important part of Buffy was the dynamics. `So freaking cool. Though I can't see the Rupert Giles of this particularly dimension losing track of such a synergistic group as this, not a man of his wisdom. Diamonds in the rough, that's what they are. Although I wonder why Xander was talking about wearing an ankle bracelet.
1) This wasn't your best chapter but only because quite a few of them are pretty remarkable. But you've set the bar for best pretty high so I'm sure to come back for more.
2) I would so follow this like a dog if it were a separate story.
Comments from author:
I guess I did not explain well enough in the previous chapter. Xander is off work and off everyone's radar by pretending - in cahoots with Jonathan's dad the judge - that he is at home serving a short sentence. The perfect alibi.

Review:
Great chapter. It shows more to come but that it might be fun? Informative? Of the good?
Comments from author:
Possibly of the wacky too. Stuff might happen.

Review of chapter "SG-1 and an Agent, part IV" from Dragan
Review:
So Liz is likely to get enough answers, if she believes them, to get her to the next stage of trust...Perhaps a mention of Giles, Rupert Giles of Her Majesties Secret Service might gain more though.
Comments from author:
It might gain less... as you will see.

Review of chapter "SG-1 and an Agent, part IV" from ShalaDakiri
Review:
Good. Talking is very much of the good. Liz may or may not believe SG-1's story, but hopefully they'll convince her they won't just 'disappear' her and her friends.
Comments from author:
Who in their right mind could believe that story? Really? Earth Goddess Willow, and a real hellgod, and a hell dimension, and more than one dimension with magic, and a girl who can fly and hurl lightning bolts, and a cyborg, and a woman from a comic book universe? Utterly unbelievable.

Review of chapter "SG-1 and an Agent, part IV" from Zeviz
Review:
The only problem with this story is the two week wait between chapters. :P

More seriously, it flows very well, and this kind of confrontation illustrates the series name.
Comments from author:
Thanks. But I'm not cranking out material fast enough on this story to publish more than every other week. And I only have a four-chapter buffer.

And once again Jack shows how you get a lot more mileage out of regs if you stretch them!
Comments from author:
:D :D And you can bend them too if you're careful.

Review:
I think that Jack just gave Liz some goodwill to encourage her to start sharing what she has on NID with him. And in doing so, it will help Jack to decided who to proceed with this intel. Why do I smell headache city coming for a LOT of people?
Comments from author:
Yes. Jack is good at that sort of thing.

Review of chapter "SG-1 and an Agent, part III" from (Current Donor)Speakertocustomers
Review:
texaswookie: "Ampta was a teen spook that was on the run from her government and ran afoul of the BTVS crew partly due to her enjoyment of just killing people that got in her way."

No! The matchlessly beautiful Ampata (ay, caramba!) was a refugee fleeing El Maestro's murderous drug syndicate, who had already come close to killing her, and she killed only in self-defence. Unfortunately it was Ampata's presence in Sunnydale, and her killing the knife-wielding assassin who was on her trail, that led El Maestro's men there and resulted in the kidnappings of Willow and Jesse after they witnessed El Maestro's men catching up with, and murdering, Ampata.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it - unless you can think of an alternative in which Ampata (ay, caramba!) survives.
Comments from author:
Ooh! Dueling scenarios! (cue the banjo music) :D

Review:
Loved the way you had alternate versions of the way things happened in this timeline that were similar to the way they happened in BTVS. my mind started to figure how other things might have worked out that way. Malcolm was a pervy computer hacker that was cyber stalking Willow, Ampta was a teen spook that was on the run from her government and ran afoul of the BTVS crew partly due to her enjoyment of just killing people that got in her way. The nightmare episode was really a hallucinogenic that covered the whole town to cover up the assassination of the kid, ford fell in with the remnants of the nest crime family as the drugs were the only thing giving him relief. I had to stop myself as I was amazed how well the BTVS world could have shifted into something like that.

After everything gets cleared up with SGC Buffy finds out that they know where Giles is. Likely due to bumbling naive Daniel saying something that puts her on his trail. She disappears and goes after him either to beat him up, kill him for doing that to her mom, or something similar. They meet and halfway through their fight they get interrupted and they end up having to work together to save the world. Hopefully she's immune to most of his seduction techniques though.
Comments from author:
:D I think that knowing the creepy spy porked your mom and ditched her would be more than enough to keep from getting emotionally involved with the guy. Even if he's Anthony Stewart Head. Heck, even if he's Pierce Brosnan. :D

Review:
Regarding the idea of "splitting" Cross Purposes... well, one possibility that comes to mind is splitting along universe lines. Instead of all the threads shuffled in a single story, having "Cross Purposes 1: SG-1", "Cross Purposes 2: Scoobies", "Cross Purposes 3: Bruce Wayne", "Cross Purposes 4: the OSI", "Cross Purposes 5: Hermione"...

But I don't really think the story _needs_ it. It's not _that_ long...
Comments from author:
Anything that gets long will (most likely) get split out. But I might not be the best person to define 'long'. Exhibit A: my Alex Mack story. Exhibit B: my last three Phase novels. :D

Review:
In 'Cross Purposes' what about splitting it into three different stories? Just a thought.

A Bat story. Buffy in Batgirl rubbers...

A Buffy story. Did you mention what was with Carter?

An SGC story. Do Willow and Xander follow Buffy down the Wormhole? Do they reunite with Giles again?
Comments from author:
I don't know if 'Cross Purposes' will spawn off its own stories. It could happen. I live at the mercy of a cruel, bloodthirsty muse who often forces me into weird places no one should go. For example: a Hermione/Sam_Carter/Buffy/Willow/Jaime_Sommers/Alex_Mack/Selina_Kyle_of_Cat_Tales crossover, just because my muse and I saw a challenge on the homepage of this site.

My muse is less like Salma Hayek in 'Dogma' and more like Kathy Bates in 'Misery'. :D

Review of chapter "SG-1 and a Brit" from fanreaderonetwo
Review:
"Unfortunately, Joyce Summers died of an aneurysm following surgery for a brain tumor, about five years earlier. The mammoth bills just about crushed Liz, but a certain Three Letter Agency of the U.S. government stepped in and offered to pay all her bills and underwrite her college tuition if she went through their training during summers off, and she went to work for them after she graduated."

****

Wondering when or how Buffy met Honey West-Burk? _Before_ the three-letter recruited her (unlikely) or while training or operating for them.
Tho IIRC the canon Honey West was a PI, not a spook.

OTOH.... "We heard that Mrs West has been training you and that was an added inducement to offer you employment with our agency."
"Well, she and her husband had retired to Sunnydale, and after various events in town she met me and started teaching me things."
Comments from author:
Yes. Honey West in the tv show was *mainly* a PI. With a clear resemblance to Emma Peel, down to the cars they drove and some of the outfits. And secret-agent gadgets.

Oh yeah, and Bruce the ocelot. A real ocelot! Jeez, in 1965 all I had for pets was a terrarium with carnivorous plants in it.

Review:
The question is will Jack greet her by name to shake her and see how she reacts or let her think she has him fooled so he can see what questions she asks. Either has advantages.

And yeah I expect that sooner or later she will either find out that that Jack knows Giles or run into him herself via the SGC. If she finds out that Jack knows him I can see her pulling out her wallet and asking Jack to send Giles a copy of Dawn's (his daughter) picture. If in person I can see her punching him out, slapping is too unprofessional. Jack will not be happy with Giles when he finds out. Jack really cares about kids.

Is Joyce alive in the universe?

Looking forward to more. How many parts are supposed to be in this arc?

It's gotten bigger as I worked on it. Expect more parts than any other piece in 'Cross Purposes'.
