Review of chapter "The Shadow" from BarbarossaRotbart
Review:
There is a big mistake in this chapter: Dwarves do not bury their dead but lay them in stone or, if that's not possible (and that happened only once after the battle at the gates of Moria), burn them.
But the rest of the chapter is good enough for me. And I think that Buffy is in big trouble when she returns home...

One question: Fili is dead?
Comments from author:
I'm assuming that in the aftermath of a large battle, they have to do something with the bodies while they ready stone tombs, and unlike Dimrill Dale, I doubt that stripping all or even a significant number of trees in the area for funeral pyres was an option. Remember that refrigeration is not an option- leave those bodies sitting, and you're looking at a health hazard or insect/scavenger problem.

Yeah, Buffy's parents are going to be less than pleased to hear what she's been up to- and that her brothers let her.

Fili is dead- I thought Buffy saving both was a bit too much of a stretch.

Review of chapter "Aftermath" from DieselDriver
Review:
Wow. That left me with a hole in my heart. It's good to win but there is such a thing as a pyrrhic victory. But sometimes you have no choice. Die or fight and chance dying.
Comments from author:
If it's any consolation, I would hardly call the win in this battle pyrrhic. The area seems to have stayed peaceful until the War of the Ring- definitely not nothing. (And the Wellington quote referred to Waterloo- also not pyrrhic. Just an acknowledgement of the cost of war.)

Review of chapter "Aftermath" from (Current Donor)Sulien
Review:
Nicely done, indeed. I'm glad you refrained from going into detail on the battle, it wasn't really necessary and Buffy's reaction was far more important. Thranduil is right, it's far better that Buffy saw a real battle early on. That era was called "The Watchful Peace" for a reason, they knew it wouldn't be overly long before all Hells would break loose again.

Thanks again for the updates, I always enjoy reading this story! I particularly needed them tonight. :)

Review of chapter "Preparing to March" from (Current Donor)Sulien
Review:
"“But I did know that your halfling and his friends would not come to any good end provoking a dragon.”"

Yeah, provoking a dragon is not something one does when one wants to live a long and healthy life, that's for sure. Also, it's good to see that Thranduil is not a complete prat. :)

Thanks muchly for the update! *skips off to read the next bit*

Review of chapter "Aftermath" from grd
Review:
I wish you had covered the battle in more detail but now she hopefully has earned Thrandill's trust and faith in her abilities. Was she able to save any of the dwarves who died in canon?

Hey, if Buffy and Dawn, Joyce too, are elves then they would have proper elf ears wouldn't they?

that was heavy and probably very difficult to write.

Compliments.
Comments from author:
Thanks! Buffy breaking down after the battle is actually an image that's been in my head almost since I plunked her and her family down in Middle Earth. So it was something I'd meant to do for a while, but some of the images I've seen this summer definitely helped get in the right mindset...

Review of chapter "In Thranduil's Halls" from (Current Donor)Sulien
Review:
And the Understatement of the Yen goes to: "“You should save the disappearing act for when it’s really important. Magic always has a price, and I suspect the trick you’re using has a high one.”"

LOL! I really loved this chapter, especially the meeting between Bilbo and Buffy. I think the two of them would make a great team, the Triple B. *g*

Thanks for sharing this, I greatly enjoyed it. :)
Comments from author:
Thank you! There may be some more Buffy and Bilbo in the works- they're heading in the same direction once the mess from the Battle of 5 Armies gets sorted out...

Bilbo will get the best ally he can ever ask for. Buffy is good at distractions.
