Review:
I'm glad Hermione finally got to cry. And I agree with her that Ginny has every right to be angry. Poor Dean and Hannah too. The aftermath of war is not pretty either.
Comments from author:
Yeah, when I wrote the story I tried to do it without the rose-colored glasses that a lot of fanfic has. Clearly I succeeded. ~g~

Review:
Like that you have her as JANE not Jean. That was another rowling screw up.

Disagree with the idea that Hermione is bitchy and stuck up. She has always been confident and unwilling to take crap- for some people that means bitchy and stuck up- for a woman. They never say that about a man.

And when you think about all the crap Hermione had to put up with; and the general misogynism of the wizarding world; no one really has the right to squawk if she DID occasionally get bitchy.
Comments from author:
I do think that the "present" Hermione (aka Jane) is more than a little bitchy. I wrote her that way on purpose. There's a lot of that characterization in the original novel I just finished writing -- everything I write builds on everything else. Though you're right -- there's a lot of crap dumped on her, and a lot of misogyny.

And yeah... Jean... that was just BS.

I enjoyed the story so far. I hate that Harry died. But I can understand you writing it that way. I hate that Ron was a prat. But he was always that. I have always liked Hermione, and I think you have a solid feel for her character. I am not sure where you are taking this. Is there romance for Hermione at the wedding? Does she run into someone there who makes her heart start pumping wildly? Just do me a favor and don't let it be with Ron. *shudders*

Thanks for the story. :)
Comments from author:
Well, Ron's engaged to be married, and if there's one thing I intended to do when I wrote this story three years ago, it was to hang a lampshade on as many fanfic tropes as I could. So the question is: are the things you asked about tropes, or are they legitimate plot points? I guess we'll have to wait and see. *g*

Thanks for reading, and thanks for reviewing.

Review:
You made Percy funny! Maybe he just never cared enough before to try being funny in front of Hermione, but now that she is a hero... I wonder if Ron ever figured out what Belette meant?
And you are right about Hermione's curiosity being one of her defining characteristics!
Comments from author:
I always thought Percy had hidden depths. He seemed the type to have a very dry wit. There's a good Percy/Faith ship on the site (I forget the name) where he's also quite sharp at times. As for the other question, you'll just have to read on and see.

Thanks for your continued readership (and reviews).

Review:
Honestly, with Harry dead, a bitchy stuck-up Hermione and Ron bashing, there just doesn't seem to be any hook for me to read this so I'll have to pass
Comments from author:
I appreciate you giving the story a shot.

I didn't think I was bashing, per se -- bashing is, to my mind, when the writer brings his/her opinion into the story without giving adequate reasoning. However, in the story, I do (by the end) give adequate reasoning for everything all the characters say. But yes, Hermione does become a bit stuck-up, doesn't she...

I will say that, ever since I read DH, I've always believed JKR should've let Harry die -- I think that we, as an audience, were mature enough to handle that. Plus, I felt the whole King's Cross thing was just stupid.

Having no Harry Potter exposure other than the first two movies and fanfic, I don't KNOW how it ended. So your AU take is perfectly acceptable to me and seems to be potentially quite interesting. (heading to HBB for more)

Good beginning!!
Comments from author:
I never thought I'd find someone who hasn't read/seen the entire series. Achievement unlocked, I guess? :)

Review:
It seems a bit strange to invite your ex-girlfriend to your wedding if you haven't seen her in years, but I can see Ron being a bit strange :) Not very pleasant memories for Hermione all round are they? No wonder she found a better world to live in. She does seem to be collecting spare wands at an alarming pace though! Whatever could she want with them all?
Comments from author:
I believe I answer the first question later in the story. As for the second -- remember, this is after the 400 pages in the middle of DH that they spend camping, so it makes sense for her to want to take the wands, even if she isn't going to use them.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for reviewing.

Interesting. I can see Hermione wanting shut of the Wizarding world. I mean really what would she have to look forward too? Still a patriarchal society; decades behind the rest of the world in many ways. And with Harry dead no reason really to hang around.
Comments from author:
Thanks for reviewing.

As the story unfolds, you'll see more about exactly why Hermione left.
