Well this version of Xander does have a chance to see the sun again if he finds the ring that Spike found in one of the shows that protected him. Still I would not put a heavy bet on Xander letting Ethan have a long life.

And now that Xander has calmed down a bit, Ethan's chances went up significantly. If he had done it to Willow, though, I wouldn't give him a snowball's chance in Hell.
I like Ethan's enthusiasm for the conversation moving to a 'not-his-fault-so-the-scary-thing-can't-kill-me' direction. And I can totally get behind the idea that he likes to tell the truth, because it creates more chaos than lying. He's a Trickster, not an outright Big Bad.

Yes, I would have loved to see Ethan become a recurring character. He's a lot of fun to play with. Evil enough to be fun, but not enough to Slay... usually.
