Review of chapter "Through the Door" from Shieldage
Review:
Fury's Big Week is awesome and recommended reading. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ashdmfansite/news/?a=57099 Sets up a timeline where most of the movies happen in the same week so the agents are stretched really thin, Fury chews out the WSC, and a lot of loose ends like the Leader are tied up.
Good characterization of the pre-jump world. I like how you had Willow integrate a demon into the WSC lab crew. I enjoyed the little alien in engineering at the end of the newest Star Trek. Might be cool if she did the same with SHIELD labs... If you want to connect the avengers movies up with some of the wider marvel, i.e., mutant/alien/demonic/magical/robotic, roots. Anyway, she's definitely got a leg up on the integration of magic and tech so it would be interesting to see how she could apply what she knows of the glyphs of her world to Thor's.
Heh. There's an interesting trope where Tony Stark, either as a laid back pro or a suddenly addicted neophyte, bonds with someone over Pokemon. Can be a reasonably entertaining character trait. With or without holograms ;)
Bringing in the First Evil? Would be awesome if you flatlined&rezzed Willow so the First could start walking and talking like Vamp!Willow. She'd really get under Loki's skin.

Thanks for the link - look's fantastic, I'll definitely check it out! I'm glad you liked the brief cameo by Willow's assistant. I wanted it to be subtle and unquestioned and just completely normal for the Buffyverse characters, because it just seems like a natural progression for the Scoobies to become more integrated with the wider supernatural community. Basically the complete opposite of the original Council! And there are certainly a lot of fun ways that could continue in the Marvel!verse, so we'll see where that goes...
Vamp!Willow's a very interesting idea that I hadn't considered. I'm definitely going to have some fun with the First, and it's attention isn't going to be solely focused on Loki...
Thanks for reviewing!

One thing I noticed in Thor is that nearly everything asgardians do is over the top and epic. I do believe Loki started with what he thought was a mere prank, but it lead to another thing, and another... Then he discovered his true origin and reacted badly. In the end, when he let go of Thor's hand, I think it was because even he realized he'd gone way too far and he could not forgive himself, even if his family could. Just my opinion, of course. I have yet to watch Avengers but, from what I heard an read, I agree that Loki's characterization was not as good.
I'm looking forward to a sequel. Buffy and Willow's reunion and the new relationships they'll have formed while separated. If Loki can be redeemed, I think he could benefit greatly from a frienship with the two dimensionally displaced women, as Buffy has already had Faith and Willow melting down on her, and the later knows Faith as well and has gone dark once herself. As for an eventual romantic relationship for Buffy, Captain America would have my preference. Buffy could help him acclimating himself to the present while she herself learns the differences with her own dimension, and Cap would give her what she never had: a stable romantic relationship with someone who is her equal. In the end, I could see Buffy staying in the Marvel Movieverse as a liaison for the WSC.
One last thing, Buffy needs to tell Odin about the First Evil (who might be known under another name in this universe). The interaction between Buffy and Odin should be... interesting, to say the least, but they could learn from each other.

Thanks for the review! Yeah, I'm with you on your assessment of Loki and the Asgardians' tendency to go overboard - that's kind of what got Thor in trouble in the first place, too, isn't it? And I also felt, when watching Thor, that despite their many years, Thor and Loki were still very young and foolish. I don't think Loki can ever go back to what he was, but this is his origin story as much as the rest of the avengers, and he's really not so far gone just yet. And as you said, Buffy and Willow have a very high tolerance for second chances. (Honestly, the list of Buffy-verse characters who tried to end the world/commit mass murder/summon the forces of darkness AND THEN became one of the good guys is just astonishing.)
Thanks for the thoughts on Captain America :) Still not sure if there will be any romance at all, but he's definitely someone I'm eager to have Buffy interact with. And Odin...oh, Odin. I'm looking forward to dealing with him, because I think he's probably in a very interesting (and for him, unusual) mental and emotional place post-Thor.
Very entertaining story. Would like to see a Willow / Tony Stark meeting and maybe working with each other. For Buffy i just don't know yet but listening in on Odin questioning Buffy on herself would be interesting.

:) Tony and Willow will definitely meet. And Buffy will be spending a bit of time in Asgard, so there's a definite chance we'll see her interacting with Odin. Unfortunately, she's never been great with authority figures, so that could go numerous ways...

This was a great start! Buffy in Asgard is a really fun choice, and Willow playing scientist lets you come at things from two different directions.
Pairing-wise, I'm really fond of the idea of Buffy/Captain America, and I've never seen a lengthy completed one. But they would work out well: he's a lot like Riley (which was her longest, most stable romance), without the problems that broke them up (he has powers too, and while she may be stronger and more skilled than movie Cap, he's really really good, and he seems to like strong women). He is also a man from out of time, which is like her more intense relationships (Angel and Spike), so she could help him adapt. And as a solider, he's got a little bit of darkness in him, just like she likes it.
I hope you keep this going! And I'm curious to see what changes might occur -- does Buffy pop down with Thor in the Avengers timeline, potentially getting involved in that little scrap with Iron Man and Cap? Does Willow get drafted into the Avengers, maybe meeting Tony and the others early? Really, this just looks like good old fashioned fun.

Thank you so much! I really like scientist!Willow and I always wish for more of her in fics - I think it's a direction she might honestly choose to reevaluate after Sunnydale, from an older and more patient perspective that's already realized that magic can't solve all problems.
Thanks for writing about Captain America - I've been thinking a lot about how each of the Avengers would relate to Buffy/Willow, and you bring up good points. I think Buffy could totally relate to his sense of duty and responsibility, and obviously to his strength and skills. I'm a little curious, though, how she'd react to the movie scene where he chews Tony out, and tells him he's no hero. (But conflict is good! The story would be boring without it!) Definitely things to think about...
Thanks again :) Hopefully the next part will be up and running before too long...I just need to get some things plotted out first. It's gonna be a race to see who meets whom first!

This is great thank you! Can't wait for the next... I think it would be really good with a Buffy /Loki redemption type story, especially with a link back into how much she's grown since Faith had her evil meltdown, and maybe a little saving of Willow from being sucked into the big evil power of the tesseract as well. And maybe Buffy wouldn't have to go home at the end of it - she could probably get out of most of her paperwork with S.H.I.E.L.D. :-) What can I say - I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

Thanks for the review! There will definitely be Buffy/Loki interaction in the next segment, but I make no promises of what nature it will be. I really want to explore the villainy side of things, because one thing I didn't love about 'The Avengers' was how they dealt with that. Loki had some great dialogue and a fabulous costume, but his character made a lot more sense in 'Thor'. (Sorry, Joss!) I understand the limitations of 2 hour movies, but it was like we were missing a major chunk of story.
Good point about Faith, though, and Willow definitely needs to be on her guard!

This is a lovely start to a series! Buffy in Asgard is brilliant and a good idea for keeping them in the Marvel!verse. Can't wait for more.
Personally, I was mega surprised how much I loved Bruce Banner in the movie. I tend to unintentionally overlook him but Joss pretty much made him my favorite. I'd love to see him in the story and interacting with Buffy - as friends, pairing, whichever. The thought of her fighting with the Hulk is priceless to me...
Also, she and Tony's snark in one place would be... I want to say epic, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers might say excruciating.
Again, loving the story!

Wow, thanks!
I have to admit, Buffy just kind of beamed up without my permission :)
I'm also really glad you mentioned Bruce Banner right off, because that was one of the main wins of 'The Avengers' in my opinion. Joss (with the help of good acting, of course) totally saved that character for the movie!verse. I definitely want to honor that going forward.
Writing Buffy and writing Tony are kind of similar experiences when it comes to their quick wit and love of pop culture references. They have different motivations and defense mechanisms, but I agree - that much snark in one place might be overwhelming! I can't wait!
Thanks again! Marin

I truly think that you should continue this story. I like how in one chapter you molded the Thor movie and some of the Advengers into it.
Comments from author:
Haha, I literally watched 'Thor' with my finger on the pause button to get the timing right for Buffy and Willow showing up. Next part will be longer!
