Intriguing beginning! I am very fond of stories with a redeemed Snape, and that theme fits in quite well with the Buffyverse. I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops and whether the shock Harry and Ron expressed at seeing him is because they didn't know he was alive or they just didn't expect to see him with an attractive younger woman putting a first year student on the Express. ETA: Oops, I just reread it more closely and they thought he was dead. Silly people. Leaving a body alone in a deserted place is just asking for the character to appear alive in a later story.

Sometimes, though, the really dead come back. In the Potterverse, that's never a good thing.
Cute, and well done. In the Potterverse, returning from the dead is pretty rare - but in the Buffyverse it happens all the time, so it could work for Snape (especially if he had a little help from Willow). The only problem I can see is that it's hard to believe he's been alive all these years without any of his former students noticing.

Hopefully it will make sense as the story unfolds.

To add to your comments to Gideon rather than editing my review: Buffy also has mostly been with older men. Even Riley - was both older and "impossibly wrong" by being a part of a military force in opposition with Buffy.
As to "why Snape" In the first few books, and hearing that Alan Rickman had been cast, there was potential for the Snape situation to have been redeemed. After seeing a movie that was probably an inspiration for both Sirius and Snape to the author - the one where Alan Rickman plays a self-loathing actor with a big motor bike - - you might also see him as tortured and arch, but not beyond redemption -- if circumstances aren't completely tragic. Can't seem to find it listed on IMDB but I remember its release and then seeing it on Cable a few years ago.

I've pretty much ignored Harry Potter up until recently. Alan Rickman's Snape finally hooked me. There's just something about that wizard. As Cordy once said, "hello salty goodness."

An interesting start. Buffy seems pretty familiar with the wizarding world and their conventions so I'm guessing her daughter's Hogwartz invitation didn't come as a surprise? I was hoping that maybe she would be a Malfoy - that would be funny. The last line kinda ruined it for me though. I just can't imagine anyone having romantic feelings for that man. Good luck convincing me in the following chapters!

Well Buffy has been married to Snape for a while, so no, the invite was not a surprise. As to pairing her with the bat of the dungeon, Buffy does like a little monster in her man. The only way I can see Buffy with Malfoy is a pre-Slayer Buffy where money and position are important.
