Review of chapter "What Price the Future?" from TroyGuffey
Review:
Very good chapter (as expected ;) )

You gave the city two different names, though.

Appropriate handling of the "invisible assassins". All three.

Funny about Eric talking hate for his kingdom, but sending knowledge to help them. If they didn't have clerics to fix diseases, I would have advised some medical books. (Although he might have included a couple (Grey's Anatomy for one)

And the dreaded SHUBBERY question. Hilarious how they realize that those recruiter guys should NOT have access to their tests, ESCPECIALLY if the student does not.

DuLac being alive is a VERY BAD THING!

Patrice being up first was a complete surprise (to me. I missed the Teraka reference). Hopefully Spike will be forced to recall his contract like canon, otherwise the assassins would keep coming until they make the kill, or run out. Although, I'd think they'd raise the price after every failed trio.
Comments from author:
Thank you.

Did I? Ummm... It has a different name by Night? ;-)

Yes, there has to be justice and mercy. Eric was a paladin, even though he'd like to deny it...

Eric has been sending them books ever since Presto found a reliable way to get back there. He just isn't planning on going there himself.

Yes... Rewatching that scene was really worrying. Probably a very good thing Willow said no, isn't it?

Yes, I agree. Never have read him being used as a 'live villain'

Expect more changes... ;-)

Review:
You know, I think the creep factor on the recruiting seen was probably heightened by including Marcie at the end of the last chapter and beginning of this one. There was probably a subconscious reminder that she'd been taken by men in suits.

Anyway, I think my favorite bit was Faith's realization that Diana's wish that she not become a Slayer wasn't a lack of confidence in Faith's abilities but rather a hope for her to live.
Comments from author:
Was it? It might have been, but not intentionally. I watched it as a reference, then re-read the screenplay and it totally sent my hackles up. Totally frightening.

Thank you. I wanted to show that Joyce wasn't the only motherly one around.

Excellent chapter. I don't think that I have ever seen a story that had three slayers in the same town before. At least before chosen. And add the enhanced Sunnyhell crew to the DnD cartoon group to oppose Duloc, Spike and minions and I expect much excitement in coming installments. Also, this Ethan seems darker more than chaos loving so could you be setting him up to join the Spike and company? I am looking forward to finding out.
Comments from author:
Thanks. Neither have I, I thought it might make for an interesting change. Lots of excitement, yes. And I sitll need to fit in some of the canon occurences, too.

Ethan is a bit nastier than in Canon, isn't he? And he was nasty enough there, if you think about it...

Hmm interesting lots of damage that could be done with Du Luc rather than just his book and cross...

Great chapter!

Tom.
Comments from author:
Du Lac has knowledge... That is a very dangerous thing, if you look at Willow.

Great take on the recruiting scene - in hindsight, it was pretty shady looking. I am looking forward when Faith meets Buffy, especially if that's after they expect another Assassin... and of course, once Kendra comes by there'll be three slayers united.
Comments from author:
On watching that episode it gave me the creeps. It really did. I hope you like my take on that meeting.

Review:
Ok, the chapter was great and the cliffhanger rather expected. (Which is definitely not bad - that was the logical place to end the chapter.)

With that out of the way... oh man, I so badly want to read more about the medieval world they sent the assassins to... you cannot believe how badly. I was on my way to Amazon to search for it before I figured out it was completely your invention. (Please tell me I'm wrong and there are like ten books already in the series?) I'm absolutely serious, I don't even know why... something in the dialogue made me really want to read more about that world and how it changes as a result of the Earth team's interference.

Anyway, great job; it's fantastic that you can write this much, this well. I'm definitely looking forward to what's going to happen next time :)
Comments from author:
Thanks. That was what I was thinking, too. ;-)

I fear that there is not much to read about it. The characters and world are based on this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_&;_Dragons_%28TV_series%29

And the series was never finished, though the final episode was written and can be found online in script form. It is a piece of nostalgia that brought me to the gaming table.

Thanks and thanks for reviewing.

Review:
Great chapter as usual. So all the Slayers are converging on Sunnydale, together with the D&D team? Should be interesting.

Interesting little fiefdom Eric has set up back in his favourite place - also a good way to get rid of troublesome individuals.

Nice way to deal with the IT people and Snyder. I always thought that was rather a creepy scene in canon. Here's hoping Snyder finds himself in real trouble over data protection laws.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with Du Lac - don't think I've ever seen him in a fic before.

Thanks for writing this.
Comments from author:
Oh yes indeed, a great convergence. The world may never be the same again...

Very interesting. Eric took to it as a businessman and a personal challenge. And it is indeed a way to get rid of certain unwanted people.

Very creepy. Snyder may very well have to call in some favours, since he is supposedly serving the needs and rights of his pupils, and certainly wasn't here...

Du Lac, ah. Not entirely sure what inspired me to use him. I hope I can do the bastard justice...

“Shrubs? Do I like shrubs? What the hell are these people thinking?” Buffy muttered.

At the next table Harmony beamed. “I love shrubs!” Then she frowned. “Or… do I?”

I know it's from the BTVS series, but after that scene from the D&Dverse, when I saw this I flashed on Monty Python :"We want a shrubbery".
Comments from author:
I have to admit that crossed my mind as well. Harmony is in two minds about this of course...

Review:
Hope Joyce remembers Eric when she's going over all that loot. He would make a good buyer and he wouldn't ask to many questions.

So eric is getting a side kick huh? That shouyld be interesting. seems he has set up a nice safe place in D&D land with a good government.

Great story looking forward to your next chapter.
Comments from author:
She might, and he might be helpful in other ways. But Eric is an honest businessman, which is part of the problem...

I think Kendra would be very upset to be called a Sidekick. She is after all, Kendra the Vampire Slayer... He worked hard for that set up!

Review:
Neat story. Really like the novelty of using Eowyn, Susan and Lucy(never seen that before).
And adding in the D&D folks from the sideline, without halloweening them in, that was nicely done, they actually work well with the Buffyverse.

Oh and BTW, surprisingly, my early guess on the invisible asassins was RIGHT! Yay. ^_^
Comments from author:
Thanks, glad you liked it. Minimal change to the costumes, yet greater changes to continuity. Only Eric, but he was Sir Kay.

Somehow I think I missed reviewing this story in the past.

Willow didn't need help from a Halloween possession, because she has awesome abilities without it. She just has a severe lack of self confidence.

Not familiar with some of the crossovers in this, but enjoying the story.
Comments from author:
Indeed she didn’t. Halloween did give her confidence the first needed boost.

Glad you like it so far. Thanks and thanks for reviewing

Review:
Still kind of an odd recurring theme of "children are naughty and must be constantly brought to heel by authoritarian adults" going on, to the point that the adults are starting to overshadow the Scoobies in the story; at this point I'm honestly surprised they haven't cut them out of all the action entirely and taken over completely. Truthfully, I was hoping to see more of the D&D crew - perhaps next chapter.

If this kind of treatment were happening to me...well, it kinda did, minus the supernatural elements. I waited to turn 18, then moved out and cut my father out of my life completely. Over 2 decades later, I occasionally wonder whatever happened to him. [shrugs]

EDIT: And truthfully, I don't see why Buffy at least isn't trying harder to exorcise Susan from her head. If that prissy twit was stuck in mine, I'd be moving heaven and earth to see her excised like a malignant tumor...
Comments from author:
The D&D crew will have a great deal to do next chapter.
