I'm thinking, additional chapters as each of the daters try t keep their nosey friends out of their budding romance - especially Xander, can you imagine what he'd do once he realized this is the real, original, accept no substitutes Captain America???

And Giles would be wearing out new glasses researching what kind of demon/Mage/whatever the poor guy is...

Meanwhile, the Avengers would start a betting pool along with the S.H.I.E.L.D. liaison about how long they last, who rescues who the most, when they get intimate - Tony, of course - and other fascinating details...

And Willow will be trying to be the Best Friend to Buffy, while aiding Giles in his research.

Meanwhile, Dawn and Faith are trying to get into the betting pool themselves and adding their own... unique... entries...
Comments from author:
It would be a real mess, that's for sure. Fury manipulating the situation to try and get his agenda through with the Watcher's Council, the Avengers being 'interested' in the situation, the Scoobies being nosy as ever... and of course, two series worth of bad guys to cause headaches. And considering the closest thing Steve has to a best friend is Tony.... well, that's a complication all by itself.

And you left out Angel and Spike, Buffy's exes, who were around when Captain America was. In fact, Angel did some work for the government during the war, and in that episode some of the soldiers called him Captain America... and Spike had been captured by the Nazi Initiative, which just screams Hydra...

I think mess is too kind of a description for how their friends will react to everything. Thank you for reviewing!

Oh really you have to do a sequel on this. This one is asking for another one.

Mini Thor.

Hey and how is Riley better than dead boy. Riley cheated and that is the worst anybody can do to someone. It's like you aren't good enough. Oh well Xander cheated too so he doesn't know better on the other hand when Anya did it with Spike it was an issue so. Riley or dead boys who would do die for Buffy. Darn difficult choice. How about a person/demon who just takes her how she is. Well doesn't that sounds good and it doesn't matter he is human or a not evil demon.

Like the story and I really would love to read a sequel. Xander is really gone drive Buffy crazy. "LOL"
Comments from author:
Blonde and super strong, and tiny. What else would he call her:)

Remember though, Xander at the end of their relationship was more into Riley than Buffy was. He was also the one that convinced her to run after him, despite being a cheating bite-junky who blamed her for everything that he had done. Xander also called him Captain America that season. Reasonable or not, he'd be jumping for joy to see Buffy dating someone like Riley.

Not that someone Riley-like is necessarily a terrible choice for her. He was her longest real relationship, and it ended between a combination of her emotional distance and his inability to accept a woman stronger than he was (leaving the bite-junky part out). With Steve the second isn't likely to be an issue -- he's super powered in his own right, and he seems to like powerful, independent women. The first is a general problem Buffy has, but Steve is stubborn enough to possibly work through it.

Anyway, thank you for reviewing!

This would be worth reading just for the line : “I'm not sure I've even heard of some of the things you would do,” . I think you've nailed all of the characters her, and getting Steve right isn't easy. I'd read more.

I'm glad that you liked it. Before writing this I sat down and rewatched the Captain America movie and Avengers... with my laptop in front of me taking about two pages of notes. I've also been slowly working my way through the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated series. By the time I sat down to write, I could practically hear them in my head.

Anyway, thank you for the review!

Oh...c'mon, with a start like this, you have to do a sequel. I know it's been done to death already, but I can imagine Fury meeting Xander.

Fury: "So, Harris...what brings you here?"

Xander: "Making sure a friend of mine doesn't make a mistake and get in over their head...what brings you here?"

Fury: "Same reason."

Xander: "And to give the shovel speech..."

Fury: "Ah, the shovel speech...never gets old, does it?"

Xander: "Nope."

Fury: "And it's kind of fun to give...though, you do realize that the people we would give the shovel speech to could probably dismember us."

Xander: "Probably...unless you had a magical shovel."

Fury: "Hmm...good point.

Dammit...where the hell did that dialogue come from?

On a side note; though I enjoyed the recent batch of movies from Marvel, I've been avoiding them like the plague since the whole "Civil War" thing, the total disarray of their continuity, and the "progressive neo-soviet" look to the covers of most of their titles, I really don't think I'll be reading Marvel anytime soon.

As for DC...not sure I like the new 52 except for most of the Bat titles (don't like Batman Incorporated) and Suicide Squad (which is one hell of a crazy ride).
Comments from author:
Nice dialogue:)

I've never been a Marvel reader, but my sister is absolutely loving t right now. She's buying about half the lines I think and can't seem to get enough -- and she keeps IMing me with stuff from it. Constantly.

While I am a huge DC fan, I'll admit that I'm not on board for the new 52. They just deleted Cass and Steph from continuity. It doesn't matter that having all the ex-Robins running around doesn't make sense with the compressed timeline, but just get rid of ex-Batgirls. Who cares, right? Argh!

I just content myself with collecting old pre-52 trades and forget continuity left me behind.

One has to wonder if Shield knows about the new council. They might want to recruit Buffy into the Avengers...? Great pairing. Hm, any chance Steve met Angel during WW2? The WW2 ep with Angel, they even mentioned Captain America.
Comments from author:
Yeah, Captain America was mentioned 4 times I believe between Buffy and Angel -- Riley was called that once, and Angel on the other occasions. What's funny, is that it actually makes since in setting for people to do that -- Captain America is such a famous figure in the Marvel Universe, of course people would compare people to him!

As far as that episode is concerned, I really think that the original Nazi Initiative project had to really be Hydra. Which means both Angel and Spike could have met him in the past. Imagine that reunion, all with Buffy present and all of the guys feeling territorial?

Anyway, thank you for the review!

*off to look for more Steve/Buffy*
Comments from author:
I'm glad you liked my fic enough to make you look for more of the pairing! Unfortunately, one thing that inspired me to write it was how well I thought they would go together, combined with how little of it I could find. Anyway, thank you for the review!

Please tell me you plan to expand on this. It is so cool. I can so see Xander laughing over this one. I mean really the cap is in Buffy age limit for dating lol. More please don't let this be a one shot.

I have no active plans for a follow up, but I do have a few ideas, so I guess I'll keep it in the 'maybe' column. At the very least, I may have to write a sequel for July 4th (it is Steve's birthday, after all). If inspiration strikes (like watching new Marvel movies as they come out might cause) I may hit this sooner. Anyway, thanks for the review!
