I can honestly say that this is a pairing that I never saw coming. However, I can totally get behind the Gilesy feel of Alan. I have always liked his character. My first reaction to reading this story was to say 'Aww'. It made me feel good to see Buffy seeing joy. Maybe she can capture a little of it for herself. Thanks for writing this.
