They're all just children now, though she retains some memories of who she was before. Her presence in his life makes Khan, and in turn the rest of the crew, more sympathetic to humanity and not as brutal. They were slowly becoming better people, not just the "weapons" they'd been created as. Buffy and Khan grew to love each other a great deal. But the time came when they were all captured, even Khan, and Buffy had to flee for quite a long time before she felt safe. More than that, she had to live immortally for centuries in a world where she might never see her family and beloved Khan again, dangerous as it was to attempt getting near her people. She was on the Enterprise when Kirk captured "John Harrison", no idea that Khan had escaped or what the 72 missiles truly meant. But when they come face to face with each other, both their worlds are shaken. Challenge is as follows: When Ethan sold his costumes he sold more than one uniform for a Starship Captain. When his spell took effect, more than one Space Ship was created in a geo-stationary orbit over Sunnydale. Now there is a whole fleet of ships orbiting over the town. Chaos follows. Requirements: Absolutely no character bashing. This is a non-negotiable rule. It should be more humorous than serious. At least 5 characters should end up with their own star ships and maybe a space station. Xander shouldn't be the leading character, he should be in a supporting role. The star ships should come from at least 2 different Sci-Fi shows/movies/books. Feel free to ignore such things as release dates if you have a particular pet ship you'd love to see but the work or the particular ship hasn't been around in 1997. Ethan is a Chaos Mage, Tzeentch knows where he got his stuff. The ships should be capital military ships or truly unique ships. Capital ships would be preferred, though. The ships are empty, no crew whatsoever. The only exception would be non-sentient androids/droids or avatars of the ship. Example: C-3PO is a non-sentient android. Data is sentient. However they must be confined to the ship at first. The ships need to be in top working condition at first. The ships must be accessible. Shuttles, remote teleporters/transporters or something else. It's up to you if lesser-known or used characters dressed as mechanics for said ships, but it would definitely help with maintenance. Let's face it, no person can maintain a starship alone, especially a large warship. Wear and tear would soon send it into disrepair and destroy it. And training a crew of qualified mechanics will take years. The ships remain after the spell ended, maybe due to the influence of some higher beings who want to derail things to come or because Tzeentch or Q thought it amusing to watch the chaos unfold. The memories and skills of the ships commanders remain. If they retain other changes, for example being a non-human is up to you. Please don't bring in radical personality changes. New quirks are fine, a complete 180 on the personality isn't. The Buffy universe for the story MUST be blended with at least one other universe that involves an appropriate setting for crossing. I.E. series like Twilight, Supernatural etc. are not acceptable as they are not space Sci-Fi series. The blended series must NOT be from the same universe as the costumes. The captains should use the ships to either help defend earth from hostile forces or to help humanity to reach for the stars. As for FTL, everything works as depicted in the shows, thus every ship can move from point A to B. Romance should be more of a background thing. Please avoid romance angsting. No Slash please, unless both characters are canonically gay. This is also non-negotiable. For the following people and organizations I don't mind bashing: Most of the Watcher's Council except Giles, Warren Mears, the Initiative, Gwen Post, the NID and especially Robert Kinsey, the Goa'uld (if you use a Stargate Crossover). Try to keep people alive. Bonus Points: These are completely optional, but I'd love to see some of them. Give the fleet Terok Nor (Mirror Universe DS9) as Space Station and have Dawn as its Captain. Harmony with a Super Star Destroyer. The Lusankya or the Knight Hammer come to mind. Alternative: Harmony found something at Ethan's that Buffy gave away/sold/lost. She became the Slayer for the night and is now a Vampire Slayer. Willow/Tara and Tara stays alive. Xander/Anya or Xander/Anya/Hallie, same deal as for Tara. Buffy/Faith without Faith going totally off the Deep End. Try to avoid the whole Angelus/Angel mess. Keep Angel, Drusilla and Spike in the story and have Spike coaching Dawn on the finer points of life, such as cheating at games, shoplifting, lock-picking, how to disengage herself, alcohol, swearing and dirty fighting. Bonus points if Drusilla teaches Dawn proper etiquette. Have people gain glimpses of the ships and the space station and several governments working furiously at destroying any evidence that there are space ships above earth. Bonus points if satellites can't see them due to the shields automatically disrupting the satellite's sensors and cameras. Parker Abrams gets killed off in a bloody hilarious way. However, a new "Lucky 7" formed to stop It again, led, rather ironically by a boy who was like "Stuttering" Bill Denburough and Richie "Trashmouth" Tozier fused into one; one Alexander "The Great" Harris. It is now 2013 and he gets a call from an old friend from his past; however, unlike the other six, he knows there are more monsters than the one they fought that summer. Special Instructions: Caleb never gouged out his eye, but he has a scar running vertically across his eye. *He backed far enough that blade cut the skin, but not deep enough to get his eye. Like Sub-Zero from MK3.* The rest of the lucky seven should be similar to the originals. A beautiful girl from an abusive home, an overweight boy with a kind heart that loves the girl, a small for his age maternally smothered boy, a Jewish boy scout, an African American boy that "unknown to them, knows the 'real' town history" and the trashmouth. Xander in Derry stutters like Bill did (and Nick did in real life). After Derry, he decides to do as his trashmouth friend did and break tension with a witty comment or joke. This sends the Powers That Be into a panic so they wipe there memories clean and place a glamour on them (Redcloak looks and ages like a ordinary human until the spell is broken) and altering there personalities. completely oblivious of previous lives of villainy. Until the memory episode in season six and the glamour on Xander is broken. How would that work out exactly, would Xykon come back with a conscience? Would Xander suddenly have a need to zombify his loved ones and conquer the world? Would they have some sort of Split personality? I think this would make for a really good story, it would have a lot of conflict with the noble and loyal nature of Xander versus the vile and malevolent nature of Xykon. Feel free to cross this over with anything else you desire. Charmed, Highlander, Stargate if you want. Must have: Xankon regains all of his sorcerers abilities He rushes to the nearest coffe shop and treating the first coffe he gets as if it was his newborn child. Things I'd like to see, please If the rest of Team Evil comes along for the ride could Redcloak and MitD be Jonathan and Andrew, respectivly. It would be funny to see Xankon get pissed that *his* minions where taking orders from some ameteur! Him looking for (if you choose) the rest of Team Evil. Xankon developing a love of annoying Angel that Xander has. Maybe even going as far as forgeting his name like... uh... that Orangescabbard guy. Xankon becomes a Lich again while his new theme-song, the title of this challenge plays on a stero. He gives at least one of his special speeches to someone before delivering a Major ass kicking Anyone (or everyone) thinks that Xykon and Team Evil is no more dangerous than the Nerds of Doom. They get disabused of this notion very quickly and very brutaly when they find out that MitD is (almost) as powerful as Glory, Redcloak is easily as competent as Mayor Wilkons, a man who built and maintained a town that was basically a slaugter house for a century. Someone in this organization decides, for whatever reason, that a small team should be tasked to investigate this “cold case” as the description of the demon is fairly fearsome. The members of this team go fairly well armed and equipped, but don’t really expect to find such an elusive creature unless it helpfully decides to jump out in front of them. Naturally, as is just their luck, shortly after they arrive in this backwoods area, someone’s loved one(s) are killed and they turn to the local spooky witch, Haggis, for vengeance on the killer(s). That evening, they cannot help but notice the nervous vibe of the locals, who suddenly become even more taciturn than usual, barricade themselves in their homes and urge the team to go home. Rightly suspecting that the locals know the elusive demon is about to put in an appearance, they entrench somewhere and suit up for battle. Pumpkinhead puts in an appearance that night… Who died? Who killed them and why? Who summoned him? Did they really understand the price they must pay for doing so? (The summoner feels the agony of each of Pumpkinhead’s victims as they are killed as if they were that person, and after the task of vengeance on all guilty persons is complete, the summoner will die and their shriveled corpse will become the next Pumpkinhead the next time it is summoned.) Must Have: A limited number of Scoobies or Watcher’s Council type persons – a crack team of 2 dozen battle-hardened slayers clad in body armor and armed to the teeth would likely resolve the situation far too quickly. This is the story of a small number of people without magical backup and out of cell phone reception range who must deal with a vengeful demon in the woods at night on their own. This should not be a new situation for whoever you choose (pick some reasonably seasoned monster hunters from among the various Slayers and Watchers), but they will be in for a surprise when facing Pumpkinhead as it basically laughs off and/or immediately heals any physical damage sustained; only the death of its summoner can banish it (any damage the summoner sustains will be immediately mirrored on the demon’s body, which is a huge clue as to what’s actually going on – and that the summoner is ultimately doomed). Slicing it with swords, shooting it with crossbows or stabbing it through the heart with a stake just annoys it and it’s easily as strong as a slayer. This will raise an interesting question for the monster hunters – when your usual tactics don’t work, and you can’t call in the magical cavalry, what will you do? You can run away, but that means abandoning the locals to the monster, which you can’t in good conscience do. Ultimately, the team will figure out the truth and be presented with a moral conundrum – only the death of the summoner will kill the demon (immediately). This is not the usual “kill demons and save humans” scenario they’re used to. They *must* knowingly kill a plain, normal human with no supernatural powers in order to kill this demon. Will they do it? Must NOT Have: Willow, or any other magic-user, must not be present, as this is the “quick fix” solution for this problem. For similar reasons, the Slayer Scythe or any other “Excalibur-like super-weapon” must not be present, either. Also, please actually watch the film, don’t just read a summary. He couldn't find a way to take control of dozens or hundreds of people, give it to dozens or hundreds of new, unique personalities that are made up right on the spot with a lifetime of memories, alter all those bodies so that they would match all those unique personalities that were made up right on the spot. He didn't have enough time to work it all out with Halloween fast approaching. So instead he just did a switching spell. If you dressed as a princess, you would switch with a princess. A princess somewhere in the world would disappear from where ever she was and appear in Sunnydale, while you appear in her place wearing a cheap princess costume and a plastic tiara. Now that's Chaos. But he didn't think it all the way through. What if 6 people dressed as Dracula? The vampire simply couldn't replace them all. Maybe he figured you'd just switch with other people around the world that dressed as the legendary vampire. He'd be wrong in that guess. Instead, what ends up happening is a number of Dracula's are pulled from other worlds. The one that Lugosi portrayed. One from that movie Van Helsing. One from Scooby Doo. It all depended on which one your costume most resembled. Ethan didn't plan on this. After all, think of all the power it would take to switch people from different worlds. But that's what Chaos is all about; things happening that you didn't plan for. And the Hellmouth always screws everything up. And what if you dressed as something that didn't exist? Like a Jedi or Wolverine? Well, maybe Ethan figured that nothing would happen. You'd just get caught up in everyone changing around you. Or maybe he thought you'd just just get switched with Mark Hamill or Hugh Jackman or something. He, of coarse, was wrong. You'd actually appear on a spaceship headed for Hoth or standing amongst the X-Men. So if you dressed as a soldier, maybe you'd just be switched with one from the nearest military base. Or maybe you'd be switched with one from a world wear guns look like short round toys, but actually shoot laser beams. If you dressed as generic vampire, maybe you'd just get switched with one somewhere in the world that kind of looks like you. Or maybe you'd get sent to the Underworld Universe. So, that's my challenge. Write a story about that happening. Maybe Buffy switches with a princess in Sweden or something and when she finally gets back to Sunnydale, she finds it full of fictional monsters and characters. Maybe Xander dresses as Van Helsing because he feels like "A night were vampires definitely won't attack" seems way too much like an invitation for bad things to happen and wants an excuse to carry around holy water and a stake. He then finds himself in another world. If you want to keep going once she gets to middle earth that would be grand. I humbly request that Buffy not join the fellowship, but finds another way to help them. I may take a crack at it at some point but in the meantime: Pick a location but it has to make sense that Sam Carter would be riding her motorcycle there. There's a fight going on, Dawn and Buffy are involved (Maybe Dawn's been kidnapped or its an attempted kidnap). Willow isn't. Faith is on her motorcycle racing to join the fight. Something happens, Dawn bleeds and a portal opens in the middle of the street, right in front of Sam and Faith and they can't react to avoid it. (maybe they're going opposite directions, maybe not). Buffy and Dawn are losing and flee their attackers through the portal. Now what? Rules: Post Chosen Dawn can't just cast a portal to get home, because she has no idea how to find home... so kinda like the sliders, when she portals they're not sure where they're going to end up. Sam does not automatically accept magic, but after seeing a few portals opened by Dawn's blood she begins to come around. Especially once she is able to confirm that they are in an alternate dimension. The bikes: Sam is definitely a 'Harley' kind of girl... big huge hog of a machine. Faith? Crotch rocket city... Katana or the like. Parings are optional but are neither required nor necessary. They figure out some way to keep the bikes fueled (Sam or Faith could kit together a still... or Dawn could witchcraft a solution, much to Buffy's unhappiness... or both, considering the effects of alcohol on engines that aren't designed for it.) Most importantly, Have fun with this!!! Possible Options: Show the Scoobies and Stargate Command searching for their missing people and crossing paths/swords in the process. Bounce through an alternate SG universe... but because their universe destroyed the Quantum Mirror, they can't use it to get home. Drop through Kortoth... either as the last step on the way home... or something happens and they have to run before they can figure out a way home from there. Willow is attempting to find them, but always seems to be a step behind them... (alternatively, they can sense Willow's power looking for them, but they think it is whoever was after Dawn so they continue to hide and run.) Specifically a "Harry Potter" in book four challenge. It is common among fanfiction that Harry, or some other principle, with try to argue against his participation by various means. Including either no actual contract or alteration of the tasks in the tournament, but always asking for someone else to act. Perhaps the author in question will have him participate but alter how this done by using minimal effort, over powering him, etc. My challenge is to render the Tournament, and its contract, moot and entirely meaningless like the fabled djinni who twisted a wish to the unmitigated detriment of the wisher. As an example: Having Harry swear a binding oath at the beginning of the Tournament that should he, by some chance, he would stake the win, and the entire purse, on a task of his own choosing. Say a poker game. Or something similar each task and the game as a whole. Thus it will be rendered meaningless after a bit of fleshing out; even while it continues. For a secondary challenge do this with a series of your choice in which the characters seems "fated" or obligated by some means to a certain task. One of the best techniques to find out if something is sexist against men is to see if it is offensive if the genders are reversed. For example: "Boys are stupid, throw rocks at them." This seems like a mildly humorous generalist statement, but if the genders are reversed, it becomes: "Girls are stupid, throw rocks at them." Which, of course, would have feminists the world over calling for blood, as they should. As such, this challenge exists. Reverse the genders of the entire BTVS cast, and rewrite the story from someone else's view other than Buffy's. (the invisible girl from a Season 1 episode) Was Willow just above the average intelligence, and with every student who knew her thinking she was super - smart, she was supercharged into genius? We know Cordelia to be blunt, but not completely inconsiderate, so were some moments, such as dumping Xander on Valentine's day of all times, caused by a number of those who knew her thinking she was a bitch? Were the occasional ditzy blonde moments Buffy had over the series caused by the image she often projected? Was Xander that unlucky in what he did during the first few seasons of the series, or was it because everyone thought him to be a loser (Hello, getting dumped on Valentine's day, then gets caught fluking, and while Willow gets back together with Oz soon after, while Cordelia goes as far as making a wish because of the whole affair, he gets hurt and it is suggested that he kept away from fighting even though apart from the Slayers, nobody in the gang is exactly in a better situation, with Oz being a werewolf - not really helpful, and Willow being still very far from being an uber witch at that point) The Challenge is thus: Take one of the Scoobies, add something (Harry Potter style magic, Heroes evolution, Marvel mutation..., heck, set it up so something from the buffyverse makes it happen) in order to cancel the Marcie Ross effect, and see how the story would change. The story doesn't have to be centered on following the butterfly effect, however, the negation has to have clear consequences by itself.
