Dark Beginnings(BtVS/Charmed)

AN: I've been holding on to this one for a while. I wasn't sure which I like best ... so I'm posting them all! *evil laugh - cough, hack, cough* I didn't want to post them at original size and take up too much room so thumbnails - click on them to view. (I don't know about you but I hate thumbnails - so forgive me.)

Bunny
I always wondered why Dawn was helpless. Wouldn't it have been better if she could have protected herself to an extent instead of always having to hide behind Buffy and the Gang? This bunny is a mesh of two ideas I had and gives a pretty valid reason for the monks making her helpless.

The Key is described as being a ball of energy ... It reminds me of Charmed's energy balls. There's a color difference sure but still not so different. Which got me to thinking.

The Source, the one with half a face, I don't know if he was ever referred to as the first Source or not but what if he wasn't the first? What if the first Source was female, The Key is the essence of that demon. On top of the Source's powers - who could open portals maybe? Without a conscious 'mind' the power was up for grabs to anyone who knew how to use it. The monks weren't just protecting it from Glory but from demons who knew and remembered her, who would want to resurrect her. The monks last efforts in making the key 'human' and sending it to the Slayer were twofold. The Slayer of course would protect her sister and having only the memories of human Dawn, the evil of The Key could not be unleashed once more onto the world. The monks believed that the 'human' Dawn would live out her mortal life and pass on as any human should.

The problem? The monks forgot that spells like that aren't meant to last forever. Now, with a body The First Source has reasserted herself - she's pissed and ready to take back her throne.

What I'd Like To See
- During Cole's reign
- Cole/Dawn (The Key) but the pairing is really up to you ... I love Dawn paired with anyone so I won't put up any protests. XD

Questions To Be Answered
- Why does it take so long for the Key to reassert herself?
- How does Dawn get her powers back? Is she truly human or were her powers only blocked/bound?
- Is there anything of Dawn left? Has the Key only blended with the Dawn personality or has the Key (kinda like Illyria) destroyed Dawn's 'soul' ... the essence of Dawn?
- What about Buffy and the Scoobs? What about the Charmed Ones?
